Location Coordination

edit

I created an account for the location coordination contest shown at the top of a page I was referencing. I can no longer see the contest box on that Wikipedia page. Does this mean I’m entered? Goatdonkey (talk) 01:36, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Goatdonkey: This help desk post is your only edit from this account. Which article did you edit? RudolfRed (talk) 02:07, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn’t intend to edit anything. I was just trying to ask a question of Wikipedia. Goatdonkey (talk) 02:16, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Goatdonkey, your question referred to "a page". It would be easier to answer if we knew what page that was, hence RudolfRed's response. Maproom (talk) 08:30, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was on page for “The Paris Murders” tv program, redirected to the French name of the show. At the top of that page was a banner for a contest running by Wikipedia during the month of May. When I clicked on the contest it indicated I had to join Wikipedia, which I did. When I went back to “The Paris Murder” page the contest banner was no longer there. Thus I apparently can’t take part in the contest. Goatdonkey (talk) 08:45, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, these transient banners that are there when you don't want them but not when you do want them are annoying. Maybe this one was about https://wikilovesearth.org/ ?   Maproom (talk) 09:24, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for replying; very kind. Another contributor has solved the riddle. Goatdonkey (talk) 17:57, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Goatdonkey: I don't know which banners have been used but was it about commons:Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2024? PrimeHunter (talk) 09:26, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Goatdonkey: It sounds more like wikidata:Wikidata:Events/Coordinate Me 2024. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:31, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is exactly it. I’ve enrolled. Thank you! Goatdonkey (talk) 15:05, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reference numbers 2, 3 and 5 are in red - they appear to be citations that are magazines - can you repair please? Thank you Srbernadette (talk) 07:25, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Srbernadette: Go to the citations and add the name of the magazine in the |magazine= parameter of {{cite magazine}}. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 08:18, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Srbernadette We can't fix this for you without knowing the name of the magazine involved. 331dot (talk) 09:29, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Guess: In cite magazine |title=The Tatler |issue=1996 |page=553 |date=27 September 1939, the field "title" mistakenly specifies the magazine title (and the article title remains a mystery). And ditto for the other two references. -- Hoary (talk) 12:13, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Srbernadette It looks like this may be available from British Newspaper Archive. You can use this link to go direct to that issue, but without a subscription, the images are too small/blurry to be legible. Fabrickator (talk) 21:38, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to?

edit

How can this and this and the likes of them be quickly and easily solved/addressed without having to get lost in dozens of so-called help pages in order not to be ignoverseen? I won't read the possible reply (I've already lost enough time) but somebody might take advantage of it. Thanks. Regards. -- 188.76.241.151 (talk) 12:28, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've made the redirect at Phailinsiam, based on your first comment. My Arabic isn't up to confirming your second comment. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:13, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They are different types of requests. See Wikipedia:Article wizard/Redirects for how to suggest a redirect without having an account. You can edit Zembretta yourself without an account to mention the planet, with a link to List of proper names of exoplanets where it's mentioned. You could have used Wikipedia:Edit requests if the page had been protected. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:18, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for articles

edit

Just curious. Is there a list of articles under a certain protection level, e.g. '{{Edit fully-protected}}', and where can i find this list if there is one? Garethphua (言) 13:46, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Garethphua Curiosity notwithstanding, why does this interest you? 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 13:47, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just maybe if i get the 30/500 permission then i can look for articles as such
Was my e.g. implying something else? Garethphua (言) 13:52, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can search for protected pages on Special:Protectedpages. Tutwakhamoe (talk) 13:52, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Garethphua (言) 13:52, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Im trying to edit the howden school page and it wont let me do it

edit

I try to change the website and pupil number but it wont work 8ftezivyd1u (talk) 14:53, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@8ftezivyd1u There seem to be quite a few problems with the article on the Howden School: for example the website address doesn't work and much of the content of the page has no citations. Please don't try to add information unless you can also cite a reliable source for it. I'll take a more detailed look at the article in a moment and you can try editing it again. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:01, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Refs number 3, 4 and 6 are all in red, please fix if you can. thanks. 115.70.23.77 (talk) 23:03, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See the responses four threads above. Deor (talk) 23:39, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
