I don't remember my wikipedia username

edit

I don't remember my Wikipedia username and all I can do is request a password reset but unfortunately this panel asks me to enter my "Username". How can I say something I don't remember anyway, this bullshit pisses me off. As a standard, if you do not remember your password or username on any website, you will be prompted to enter an e-mail address to verify the user's e-mail address. I don't know what I want from you, but I guess I need to find the username registered to my email address and I can't. I'm writing here because I don't know where to go for help. If you can't help, please direct me to the relevant department so that I can find my username. By the way, it doesn't remember my password and username, I only have an email (Google account) connected to the account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.119.17.8 (talk) 11:58, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Are there particular articles you remember having edited? You could examine the edit history of those articles to see if you recognize your username. No one has access to usernames and email addresses associated with them. If you are unable to remember your username, you will just need to create a new account. If you do, you should identify it as a replacement account for one that you don't remember. 331dot (talk) 12:12, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2022_April_27#forgot_username. You may be able to retrieve the username via a password reset email depending on how the settings were configured. Otherwise, the best option is to look at the edit history of some articles that you can remember editing while logged in.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 12:14, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you use a standard browser, you may find that it remembers your username/password combination, which you can check by going to the browser settings and looking at the stored credentials for this website, possibly on an old computer. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:17, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Try searching from:wikipedia.org OR from:wikimedia.org in that e-mail account. --116.86.4.41 (talk) 15:03, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How to Move an Article to Draft

edit

Hello all, I was attempting to create a draft for John Houston McIntosh and ended up accidentally creating a full article. Can someone help me with moving to draft or does this just need to be deleted? Thanks in advance! Amscheip (talk) 15:05, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done, now at Draft:John Houston McIntosh.   Maproom (talk) 15:37, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Maproom Amscheip (talk) 15:40, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies, I messed this up.
My first mistake was to move the article from mainspace to draft but to forget to tell the software not to leave a redirect from the old article to the new draft. I should have known better.
I realised this mistake, and set about trying to get the redirect deleted. I read help pages on deleting redirects, specifying a reason why a redirect should be deleted, deciding which reason might be applicable, and so on; until I was overcome by an urge to drop it all and go out to the pub instead.
When I got back from the pub, I found that IAmChaos had deleted the draft because there was a redirect to it from mainspace. If you ask him nicely and point out that the mistake was mine not yours, he might restore the draft for you. Maproom (talk) 19:41, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I am not an administrator. The redirect was deleted by Fastily. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 20:02, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: Note: The draft was not deleted. It still exists. The redirect was deleted as a WP:XNR. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 20:03, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Open the section Abuja#Wuse_District, then click on the wikilink Wuse District at the beginning of the paragraph. It points to that same section through a redirect. What to do in such a case (this is not the first time I find one)? --62.98.161.59 (talk) 18:40, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That link provided no benefit to the reader and so I removed it. You can do the same. Cullen328 (talk) 19:54, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
