Underlining the name of a section

edit

OK, on my user page (User: JIK1975), I have a line under the heading "About Me," which I created with this code:

"== About Me =="

However, I try the same thing for the External Links section, and it never works. I can't figure this out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JIK1975 (talkcontribs) 03:19, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @JIK1975: Could you link to the page that you'd trying to edit? As long as you type == External links == on its own line, it should work as expected. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:25, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I played around with your user page a bit, and this seems to have done the trick. OK now? Deor (talk) 04:02, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The fix worked but I have made a cosmetic change [1] which may reduce the risk of future errors. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:53, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Emory University page

edit

Someone keeps editing the page to make it les organized and generally unpresntable. In addition some removed "all ethnic minoirties" from the alumni page- this is very disturbing. I am an alumni and me and some other students have attempted to make a more appealing wiki page that better reflects other university wikis. However, someone, who seems to have poor intentions keep reediting the page to be unpresentable and unorganized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Superdude112 (talkcontribs) 04:00, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 4 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck.--ukexpat (talk) 12:48, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I inadvertantly uploaded the wrong photo on 2 April 2015

edit

In uploading a photo of jazz double bassist James Aton today, I accidentally selected the wrong image. Although Mr. Aton appears in the image, he is not the bassist in the picture. And also I do not know the proper ownership or copywrite, if any, of the image I accidentally uploaded for use with this Wickipedia link: List of jazz bassists. I request that the editors NOT publish this incorrect image. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Strongbower (talkcontribs) 13:09, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want the image to be deleted?--ukexpat (talk) 13:58, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How to change/correct a topic title

edit

I am a member of the Board of Directors of the West Michigan Symphony. When I search Wiki for this organization I find a stub article referencing the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Since the orchestra is only one component of the West Michigan Symphony I would like to change the article title to West Michigan Symphony, then reference the orchestra as one of several components of our organization. If I am able to change the title, I intend to edit the existing article to add much more useful content.

Is it possible to make this change? Dreamfollower (talk) 16:45, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Before you do anything else please read this guidance. We would much prefer that you use the article's talk/discussion page to suggest changes to the article, rather than make them yourself.--ukexpat (talk) 18:02, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
