What's a tool that shows my edits by time of day?

I've seen a link to one somewhere. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 04:46, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know if I sent my article to be reviewed

edit

Hello,

I understand that I already sent my first article to be reviewed 12 days ago, but I do not know if that actually happened. I haven´t received news about wikipedia about this.

Thanks for your help.

Are you referring to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Felipe Browne? If so, you will need to click on the 'Submit your draft...' button for it to be reviewed. Before you do that though, I suggest that you do more work on it. Specifically, you need to provide citations from third-party published reliable sources that Browne meets the relevant Wikipedia notability guidelines - without such evidence the article is sure to be rejected. dark matter

edit

is it just an idea ? when a galaxy is forming outer "bebris" would be ejected by centrifugal force anyway. the rest of the galaxaxy is held together by gravitation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.208.131 (talk) 10:19, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This help desk isn't the place for questions like this one. You could try reading the Dark matter and Galaxy rotation curve articles, and then perhaps post at the Science reference desk. -- John of Reading (talk) 10:26, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is the article linked in the title eligible for deletion? There are no sources and the notability is questionable. 86.127.30.196 (talk) 11:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need sidebar help please!

edit

Hi,

I'm trying to create a new page for the NGO I work for. Having a bit of trouble with the sidebar. The formate I'm trying to use is below. Any suggestions?

at the end of your use of the template, and I have corrected that for you, but all the advice above remains. Glancing at your draft, even forgetting about the WP:COI concerns, there is much that you need to read, particularly about verifiability by references to published reliable sources independent of the subject of the article. I've put a few links on your user talk page, and you definitely need to read WP:Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:58, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Heading

edit

hello. i need assistance regarding the search name of our company, we just recently changed our name from Capitol University Medical City to Capitol University Medical Center, can you please change it to the latest name so that center will appear instead, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeycdo (talkcontribs) 14:39, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

One of the refs in the article gives the old name and the remaining two are deadlinks. The Capitol University website does not find results under either name, despite the site being listed in external links as if it were the official site. I doubt that any conscientious editor would be willing to fulfill your request while there are no sources confirming the information. I recommend you concentrate on providing reliable sources for the article first. As it stands, it is in danger of being nominated for deletion as the only source is merely proof of existence. Signature

edit

Which of these signatures looks the best? 1. AmaryllisGardener talk 2. AmaryllisGardener talk 3. AmaryllisGardener talk or something else? --AmaryllisGardener talk 16:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2 looks good to me. --NeilN talk to me 17:01, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. One is a little hard to read on my screen, and three is a little hard to notice the talk link. However, as you see, I am not a great expert at username styles. —Anne Delong (talk) 21:04, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it to 2. The readability was my main concern, and I want to have the first color be pink/red (Hippeastrum); and the second to be a shade of green (gardening). --AmaryllisGardener talk 21:27, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's simple yet attractive. You likely won't have as much trouble as I do with people copying my signature style. —Anne Delong (talk) 03:59, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney

edit

Claudia Tenney is an Assemblywoman in the 101st Assembly District not the 115th. The districts changed in 2012. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.14.57.66 (talk) 17:15, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may edit the article, Claudia Tenney, citing a reliable source for the district change, or post a request on the article talk page, Talk:Claudia Tenney. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:44, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I recently added a few links to retailers of the exact topics you were talking about, but they were deleted. Why, they were placed below other retailer, and I noted them to be retailers with a link to that appropriate page. Who and why is it decided that my retail links are not worthy of an open source platform, but others are?

Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Finejewelersgo (talkcontribs) 19:43, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We do not allow blatantly promotional links, as yours all were. If you know of other such links for other retailers, please tell us about them, and we will remove them. Maproom (talk) 20:38, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Las Vegas Strip

edit

Sir or Madam,

Under the sub-heading Las Vegas Strip you have reported two entertainers who, upon their deaths, had the lights on the Strip dimmed as a show of respect for these two entertainers. They were Dean Martin in 1995, and Frank Sinatra in 1998. However, you neglected to include the FIRST entertainer to have this sign of respect accorded to him. That entertainer was Sammy Davis, Jr., and it was done in 1990. I remember it vividly because I was living here in Vegas at the time and the newspapers reported that this had never been done before. I can't understand how he was omitted from this particular Wikipedia reference, especially since he was the FIRST ONE. Please make the correction of this oversight.

When did we loose citation options?

edit

Hi... I'm looking through the last few tech newsletters on my talk page, and I can't find when we lost Citations in the editing interface. The option was up above the editing area, with Advanced, Special characters, Help. It was so easy to just fill in the fields and hit submit, and have the template filled for me, not have to search for the template.

Is there any plug-in to add this back into MediaWiki? -- Zanimum (talk) 22:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's still there for me but in the past I have also experienced losing it temporarily when others had it. What is your browser? Try to clear your entire cache. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:12, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Firefox and Chrome on my personal computer, and Chrome at work. (On lunch, for the record.) The most I'm getting, even after clearing my cache, is an icon of a book and bookmark, and "Cite your sources: " down at the bottom, where there's the specialty characters. -- Zanimum (talk) 21:51, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zanimum: Does it make a change to log out? There is also a report at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 125#Citation template in RefToolbar sometimes disappears. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:09, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aurora NY

edit

Someone (Greeneyedsallie) is putting false information on the Wikipedia page for Aurora New York. The person is claiming that there is a public walking path along the lake. That is not true. The property is all privately owned except for several village rights of way that go to the lake. We own a portion of the lake front and it is not a walking path. I keep editing the false information. My edits can easily be proved by going to the Cayuga County Real Property page and looking at the tax maps, town maps, village maps. This person is trying to cause trouble.

How can we stop them? Thank you, Laura Holland — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laholland (talkcontribs) 23:05, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Id say you should start a conversation on the talk page, but do NOT keep reverting their edits, as that would be edit warring. If the problem persists, I`d ask a Admin for help. Happy_Attack_Dog (talk) 23:19, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see that the paragraph which Greeneyedsallie has been adding includes a reference for the claim that there is a public right of way along the lake edge. However it is not to a published source, so is not really acceptable on Wikipedia. Are you able to provide a reference to a reliable published source stating that there is there no public right of way?
I see that you have accepted the invitation to discuss the matter with Greeneyedsallie, on the article's talk page. But while she is presenting the facts, or at least her view of them, you are using insults and name-calling. I predict that this will not turn out well for you. Help

edit

Hi I didn't know Wikipedia was so hard to use. There's no simple explanation for anything ... everything is like writing programming code. I have errors coming back to me about references etc. ... no idea why ... the online chat is also impossible to use .... I clicked on it and some kind of code comes back in text but there is no space for me to respond. Can someone help? Danielle — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danijela Sremac (talkcontribs) 23:16, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you be more specific? Where? CTF83! 23:30, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I could not agree more with this comment. Trying to find an answer on an editing point is like wading through treacle and hunt the thimble combined. Tracking down the answer usually entails going through pages and pages of information, linked to other pages going off in all directions, before you reach the answer, and even when you do, the answer is usually far from clear. Thank goodness there is a Help Desk. --P123cat1 (talk) 16:05, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reference help requested. Hi, I recieved the following message but I'm not sure what error occurred, I added Annie Vasquez (The fashion Poet): Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:

On the Wikipedia:Requested articles/Arts and entertainment/Fashion page, your edit caused a missing references list (help | help with group references). (Fix | Ask for help) Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:27, 6 April 2014 (UTC) Thanks, Ejrod (talk) 23:18, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That was 11 days ago. The problem was quickly fixed by another editor. The page is not an article and doesn't use the system. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:26, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Citing Sources

edit

Hi, I am preparing to edit a page on Wikipedia, and I'm practicing by putting my proposed edits on my sandbox. If I have already created a reference for one source, and want to use it again, is there any way that I can add it in there without it becoming a different number? Gina at Stockton College (talk) 23:44, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, there sure is. You would put say, then subsequent times, you would put just note the / at the end subsequent times. CTF83! 23:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) See Help:Referencing for beginners#Same reference used more than once. --David Biddulph (talk) 23:51, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
