Why?
It seems the IP address wishes to create redirects for those pages. To create a redirect, you need to be registered. There are many benefits to creating an account, including the ability to "turn a red link blue". Intelligentsium 01:42, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to establish a subsection for history "Lexington, Illinois" but my edits do not appear

Is there some way to add history to the section on "Lexington, Illinois" ? I have tried several edits, but when I push "save page" rather than appearing, they vanish.

Second, are my edits gone for good or can I somehow find them again.

For example you added this bit:

Your second to last edit seems to have worked. In your last edit though, you have placed the information in the middle of a citation template, so the words are showing up in the References section at the bottom of the page. If you go to the page history for the article, you can see your edits. If you click on "undo" next to your last one, and then save, that will undo or "revert" your last edit. You can then put the sentence elsewhere. Make sure you don't put them in the middle of a {{cite news}} template, or in the middle of <ref></ref> tags, as they'll show up in a strange place. Also, if you want to start off a new section, you can make a header like this: ==History== --BelovedFreak 01:44, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Click "my contributions" at top of any page to see Special:Contributions/Elkmilok which shows 5 edits to Lexington, Illinois. Or click the "history" tab at the article which also shows the 5 edits. Wikipedia:WikiProject Games or Wikipedia:WikiProject Board and table games? I found those through google by the way. When I'm looking for a possible wikiproject, I find it easier just doing a google search or "Wikiproject" + whatever keyword is relevant. That usually works. An IP address

Hi. Since SineBot is currently not functioning, I am gladly taking the trouble of adding signatures after unsigned comments on the Refdesks until the bot is brought back to order. My question is: should I sign comments by 208.76.104.133 (please see the talk page)? All comments from that IP address are signed as

Anonymous, HH:MM UTC, Monthname DD, YYYY

My suggestion would be not to sign the comments of 208.76.104.133. The editor clearly doesn't want his/her comments signed, and it's not a strict requirement. The edit summary "!nosine!" is done to opt out of SineBot's autosigning for that edit. --Mysdaao talk 15:00, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Losing my home

It's difficult to write the President and you, and you all are the only ones that can help. Usernames and password are case-sensitive, so make sure you are typing the correct capitalization. Text to Speech

I have a learning disability, and often use text to speech to listen to articles. Is there a way to get extract text so it can be read in my text to speech program? For most new sites, I can use the print button and the text flows from begining to end. The way Wikipedia articles flow, I cannot see a way this can be done. I get the subtext from pictures mixed in and the word "edit", etc.

In the column on the left-hand side of the screen there is a link to a printable version of the article you are looking at. That should get rid of some of the extra tags, although image alt-text will still be there. —Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 18:22, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Text to Speech (further comment)

Pertaining to the above question about text to speech, the printable version of the article still mixes up the picture subtitles with the text and does not flow logially. Is there any other facility to print just the text without the pictures and subtitles?

I have spent some time looking into this, and I don't think there is! I can't find any reference to a way to do this (even if you disabled images, the alt text would still be there!) - and even the mobile version and wapedia use images. The only page I can find that is text-only is Wikipedia:Main Page alternative (text only) - although the Wikipedia:Press releases tend to be text-only if they are held on Wikipedia.

However, someone has removed the item I added and I am not sure where to look for an explanation on why it was removed.

The place to look is the page history, which can be accessed by clicking "history" at the top of the page. In this case, several users have reverted your addition because it does not cite a reliable source, which is a requirement of virtually every fact that is inserted into a Wikipedia article. This is a core policy of Wikipedia, and not following it is especially bad in biographies of living persons because adding unsourced material can potentially get Wikipedia in legal trouble for defamation or libel -- although that chance is significantly smaller here because the material you added is not necessarily "contentious". As it says, the claim that she was Elvis' favourite female singer had no source to verify the information. I have also removed your latest edit for the same reason. I was curious, so I looked up this fact, and found an article in the Reading Eagle dated 24 October 1979 which mentions this, as well as a book ('The insider's country music handbook')! How can I add a new category?

For example I like to add a category to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Software_companies_by_country I want to add new companies of a country which is not in the list currently.

Edit the article page: at the bottom add [[Category:Software companies of xxxx]]. Save the article. Now go to the bottom of the page, and find the category list. Click on the category you added. Ontology is the philosophical study of the nature of being, existence or reality in general, as well as the basic categories of being and their relations - so I'm not too sure how you question should be answered! You might want to ask this at the Humanities Reference desk, as they will try to answer almost every question under the sun - apart from how to use Wikipedia, which is what this Help Desk is for! Ontology is a term that arises in knowledge engineering - that is probably the sense the question refers to, what we might call "applied ontology". Computer scientists borrowed the term from philosophy, so you should specify when you mean the computer science usage of the term. See for example our article about the Cyc program. You may also like to read about semantic wikis, for example Semantic MediaWiki which might be the closest approximation to what the question seeks. --Teratornis (talk) 03:03, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you do refer to the computer science notion of ontology, better to ask at the Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing. The folks at the Humanities desk might not understand what you are asking. Incidentally, the Cyc article contains this somewhat vague sentence:
