Request: Hello! In the first image: I'd like to see the letters at the top and at lower left removed. If possible, leave the image itself a little more... darker so it can contrast with the white background. Also, leave the background completely white or even translucid.

In the second image: remove the yellowish background in the signature, please. Thank you very much! Lecen (talk) 13:55, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): Pardon me for asking but why was the first image uploaded above this one? It's blurry, of lower resolution and overall inferior to the one below it. At least they should be moved to different files. Regards. -- Orionisttalk 19:01, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, but the previous version has dark shades in both sides because the page did not fit in the scanner. If someone was capable of improving it, that would be certainly wonderful! --Lecen (talk) 22:57, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see. But we usually upload different file if the images are different regardless of quality. I'll upload the overwritten image as a separate file, and will see if something can be done to the shades on the sides. However, if you have access to the original printed image, you can scan it in 2 parts or more, and they can be merged into one, much better image. -- Orionisttalk 21:56, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The shades don't really strike me as being the difficulty, it's a fairly straightforward fix and not an overly-noticeable problem. Personally I think the issue is that the original image has the sides cut off, whereas the current image pictures the entire cabinet. Also there's the issue of a lot of blurring on the edges (especially the right). I agree that scanning it as two separate pictures and stitching them together would be sensible, if we have access to the original printed image, - Kingpin13 (talk) 22:17, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Make a world map of the Hydrosphere, including talassosphere, cryosphere and limnosphere, each a different color. Luan (discussão) 16:09, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): This may be better suited as a request for the Map Workshop. In any case, I don't have sufficient info to know what are the extents of each of these talassosphere, limnosphere, and cryosphere. Are there a complete map for each of these that the graphists can composite? Jkwchui (talk) 09:03, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I might have the right map for this. But I need to know if the "limnosphere" includes rivers and streams, or is it lakes only? My web search produced very little mention of this term and no definition whatsoever. Is there another word for it? I also found that "talassosphere" is often called "Oceanosphere". If you have good sources about these, I'd also suggest creating articles for them. Regards. -- Orionisttalk 10:51, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Text position broken in thumbnails despite converting to paths

  Resolved

Article(s): en:Brewster's angle (though currently removed as it's broken)

Request: As SVG help is no longer maintained I thought I'd ask here. I've done everything required for inkscape files as given in wp:SVG Help. If I look at the SVG in inkscape or firefox it's fine, but the text placement is broken in the thumbnails. What can I do to fix this? Thanks. ChrisHodgesUK (talk) 11:12, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): Sorry, it's now fixed, converting to paths did the trick. Even after purging the thumbnails took a while to update, which is why I thought it was still broken.

I've left this request in rather than deleting it, but I don't mind if anyone wants to tidy it up (or wants me to)

Thanks

Thanks for the effort, but there's two important points you have missed:
  • Embedding a bitmap image inside a SVG does not make it any more vectorized than it was before. You have to recreate it in vector form, which usually means redrawing all the content (in Inkscape, for example).
  • If you have altered an image on Wikimedia Commons, then upload it there (and not on enwiki) by using the derivativeFX tool.
I guess you can at least upload the transparent-background version you created over the original PNG. —Quibik (talk) 22:38, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Logo for Portal:London

The only imaging program I have isn't up to the job so I hope a Graphist can do a large .svg version along the same lines as my attempt above. Okay, I can do that. Do you have a copy of the flag somewhere that I can take the color from? If you had a sample of the color, I could match it exactly. I can change it to 009900 easy enough, though, if you're sure that's the right color. Makeemlighter (talk) 13:34, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
