Wikipedia:GLAM/Australian libraries and WP/Events/City of Sydney AusMusic Month
The City of Sydney Library is hosting this edit-a-thon to celebrate AusMusic Month and increase and improve content relevant to Australian musicians and music in all genres.
Everyone is welcome to register and attend this edit-a-thon, presented in partnership with Wikimedia Australia. It will be led by experienced Wikipedia editors Toby Hudson and Annie Reynolds.
No experience is necessary to join the edit-a-thon.

editIf you do not have a Wikipedia account, please create one here first: click here to create your account. When choosing your username, please keep in mind that using your real name as your Wikipedia user name can carry risks - you may like to use a nickname instead.
To add your Wikipedia username, click Edit source (beside the section heading Participants), then type *~~~
This will add your Wikipedia username to a bulleted list.

editWhere to begin
edit- Create your user page (if you don't have one already)
- New editors - consider adding a line, "Participating in an editathon on 12 November" and linking to this project page - this will let other editors know that you are just starting out
- More experienced editors are welcome to link to this page too from their user page if they would like to
- Open the Google sheet and choose a topic from the list - either an article to edit or an article to create
- Edit put your Wikipedia username against the one you have chosen
- Consult the resources listed and the resources being provided
- If you aren't sure about what to include or how to use a reference, check with the facilitators
- Make your changes (remember, you must write in your own words unless adding a cited quotation, and must cite your sources) and save
- When you are finished with one article, choose another!
Editing Wikipedia articles
edit- Click Edit, either at the top of the article or at the section heading for the section you would like to work on
- Enter your text and use the formatting options
- Remember that you are working on a live article which others may be reading or editing
Creating Wikipedia articles
edit- You may prefer to work in your Sandbox - this will let you save your work as you go. If you do work in your sandbox, speak to Toby or Annie when you are ready to "launch"/publish your article
Tips for biographies

- Choose a notable subject
- Use neutral language
- Be aware of guidelines surrounding articles about living people
- Use verifiable, independent sources
