Portal:Australia edit

Self-nom. One of the first country portals on Wikipedia, I established the Australia Portal early last year and have been looking after it since then. It has evolved over time as I've either developed new ideas myself or incorporated the best of other portals. Many of its features have been employed by other portals, and it has a sister in Portal:New Zealand. It is well laid-out and I believe it useful for users of Wikipedia.--cj | talk 06:05, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, good content and layout. I should declare my bias here, as I'm the chief maintainer of the New Zealand Portal which was also established by cj and which is indeed a sister in layout.-gadfium 06:51, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Some minor issues:
  1. The "featured" picture isn't.
  2. While having the list of topics layed out without a proper box is interesting, will it still work if/when the relative column heights change?
  3. There's no (obvious) archive for the "Did you know" and "Featured picture" sections. Are they new, or are you just not archiving them?
Overall, though, the portal looks quite good. —Kirill Lokshin 14:29, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kirill. 1) I've renamed the image from "featured" to "selected". 2) I'm not sure what you mean? It is in a proper box - just not in a column. It's similar to the topics list on Portal:London. 3) I've been archiving images to Portal:Australia/Previously featured - I'll make this more prominent. I don't archive "did you know...", partly because I don't see a reason to. Thanks for commenting, --cj | talk 14:46, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It looks to me (on FireFox, anyways) like the color from the topic list is bleeding out into the rest of the portal. You might want to check your div tags. —Kirill Lokshin 14:54, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it; apparently it was a case of overlapping floats. Support from me, incidentally. —Kirill Lokshin 14:57, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I think this is a fine portal.Rlevse 16:22, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - I based the styling for the London Portal on this - definitely worthy.   Deano (Talk) 22:19, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
