Original – The sun, about a minute before astronomical sunset. Porto Covo, west coast of Portugal.

Reason: This image has been leading Sunset for almost three years now and was chosen for its encyclopaedic value, among a set of excellent images, after a long discussion (see here). I believe it finally deserves the FP status.
