Oppose. Criteria 3.1, 3.2 and 5.2. Within Gougeres, I find the cut cross section more illustrative and making me want to know about the roll, than the picture of a basket of the rolls. (Also in a basket like that, we can't get a good sense of the dimensions or overall appearance of a single roll. Also, I have to define subject as rolls in general, not just "that roll". Appreciate the submission and oppose is not meant nasty. It is a pretty pic and looks very still life art school. Just not doing it for me in terms of looking like an illo for an article. Oppose. Awkward composition with tray not sure if it's meant to be there or not, odd framing part way to image right, and cutoff tea towel poorly set up with labels, etc showing. Lighting is dull, backdrop is quite poor (looks like some creased up fish & chip paper or something). A useful picture, but not FP. --jjron (talk) 15:38, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per TCO. I agree that there should be one specimen cut so the inside is visible. However, I disagree with my friend jjron about the artistic style of the photo. I'm a fan of the tray, right-side placing, towel, and paper backdrop. However I do agree that the tags of the towels should have been removed. I have no problem with a little artistic flair being included in our FPs. Even encyclopedic photographs of boring (ordinary) things can be beautiful to look at. I think we're just so used to many of the fruit and other food photos that are usually very simple, on a white background.
