Atmospheric inversion edit

Rising smoke forms a ceiling over a valley due to a an inversion, an overlying layer of warmer air.

Purdy, and a striking demonstration of inversion (meteorology). Created and uploaded by Johantheghost.

  • Hmm, I guess it might need to be transferred to en from commons first; I apologize, I'm not sure how to do that.--Father Goose 21:18, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to transfer it, and I've added the FPC template for you.
  • Oppose. The image itself is too grainy for FP, and there are a few distractions that have nothing to do with inversion. I guess if the picture was of higher quality and some things (like the contrail, or the houses) weren't in the picture, I would support it. --Tewy 21:31, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • oppose per above--Vircabutar 22:15, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose The phenomenon being demonstrated is interesting but otherwise I agree with the above comments. --Nebular110 22:36, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Illustrates the article outstandingly well and I don't see it as particularly grainy - Adrian Pingstone 07:42, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Looks pretty good to me too. --jjron 11:53, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support. I like the compisition as it gives perspective on the phenomenom. I don't see much grain at all, very minor. The image is encyclopedic and well exposed. HighInBC 16:05, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per others. --Bernard 20:15, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Oppose Just doesn't strike me as FP quality. It's hazy (I guess it has to be), not sharp, and blown in areas. --Fir0002 00:49, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - not the best example of an inversion but good picture. --GoOdCoNtEnT 02:59, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
