This (mostly procedural; see talk page) nomination is for the baseball player who played a role in the Braves' 2021 World Series victory.
The article is very well-written and expansive, documenting Fried's baseball journey, especially for his ongoing Major League stint. The headers (e.g. " 2020: Undefeated, Gold Glove and Fielding Bible Awards, All-MLB First Team", underlining mine) provides a succinct snapshot of Fried's season for the uninitiated, and serves as a model for my work at another baseball player page.
After all, after reading this article, I am sure that you will be familiar with Fried.
(Disclaimer: I am not a famous person.) NotReallySoroka (talk) 03:40, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I have noted this nomination at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball/Archive 48#My nomination of Max Fried for FA, adding a note that I allow the removal of this nomination should it prove inadvisable. --NotReallySoroka (talk) 03:50, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose Prose needs work; there are too many short and stubby paragraphs. Some sources look questionable, such as fangraphs.com and winnersandwhiners.com. If you didn't significantly contribute to the article, how do you know whether there are failed verification issues? (t · c) buidhe 03:59, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Buidhe, please accept my apologies for wasting your time.
- Although I made this nomination in good faith, and I do not mean it as a stunt to garner attention (be it for myself or the article), I should have followed the instructions more strictly before. However, I will be sure to work on the article based on your pointers.
- If you think this is SNOW-able, please go ahead.

edit- " "Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction, Preview, and Odds - 10-16-2021". winnersandwhiners.com." - not RS
- " Ricky Keeler (April 6, 2017). MLB "Rookie Profile: Max Fried, LHP, Atlanta Braves," Minor League Ball." - SBNation sub-blogs are of questionable reliability in most cases, and FA sourcing is suppose to be on the stricter "high-quality RS" standard, especially for a BLP
- " McCartney, Cory (September 3, 2020). "Starting Nine: It's time for Max Fried to start getting some MVP love". Talking Chop." - ditto as above
- " Alan Carpenter (October 23, 2020). "Gold Glove nominations continue to show Atlanta Braves defensive emphasis"." - ditto as above
- "Alan Carpenter (November 20, 2017). "Atlanta Braves prospects show dominance in AFL"." - A Fansided blog, not SBNation this time, but above comment applies as well
- "Through 2021, of the Braves career leaders, Fried was second in win–loss percentage (.690; behind Russ Ortiz and ahead of Greg Maddux)" - while I'm sure this was true as of the end of the 2021 season, the source no longer verifies that as it continually updates and he's now apparently 4th.
- Why isn't it mentioned that he spent most of 2018 bouncing between the majors and the minors? What were his season-ending minor league stats?
- Nothing about specific games for 2019 except for the line drive or whatever off the hand? There's enough written about Soroka that we shouldn't be just reciting stats
- For a FA about an athlete, we should when possible also mention in-season highlights, thoughts from the media or managers about their performance, or basically anything besides continuous walls of stats
- He started 5 games in the 2021 postseason, we should at least mention that even though not all probably warrant much detail. The article seems to be picking out the two he won for mention while ignoring the others
- He also pitched in the postseason in 2018, 2019, and 2020, but we wouldn't know that from the article, either
And this isn't a super thorough look either. I'm opposing based on a lack of comprehensiveness and several unreliable sources. Hog Farm Talk 14:32, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hog Farm, my apologies to Buidhe above also goes to you. While I did make an attempt at improving an article, and I hope to continue my efforts (within WP:CHOICE), I am sure your pointers would prove themselves invaluable. You may procedurally close it; alternatively, I can tell you once my attempts at improving the page is done. NotReallySoroka (talk) 18:02, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- It's generally best to do major improvements to articles outside of the FA process, I would recommend WP:Peer review. Pinging @FAC coordinators: for closure (Buidhe and I are recused from this one) Hog Farm Talk 18:08, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hog Farm is quite correct, this needs working on off-FAC. Then putting it through PR would almost certainly be helpful. I look forward to seeing the article back here in the future. Meanwhile I am archiving it.

- Closing note: This candidate has been archived, but there may be a delay in bot processing of the close. Please see WP:FAC/ar, and leave the {{featured article candidates}} template in place on the talk page until the bot goes through. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:14, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
