This article is on Majed Abu Maraheel, who was a Palestinian long-distance runner, football player, security officer, athletics coach, and many more... (yet we probably won't list everything he has done!) He was the first ever Palestinian Olympian, when he competed at the 1996 Olympic Games for the nation. Speaking for myself (Arconning), this is my first ever FAC. I got inspired to write more about him after his passing away and some encouragement from the co-nominator, Generalissima ! We started this project after I mentioned him, then Generalissima found a surprising amount of sources about him, and then we wrote and wrote until we got it to as a GA! He has served as an inspiration to many people, and we hope this article would be a nice way to honor him. Looking forward to some comments! :) Arconning (talk) 12:50, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - Sorry the article is not of FA standard. The prose is way below par and suffers from WP:Proseline where lots of unconnected factoids are bundled together. Checking the non-English language sources is also problematic. Although this a respectable GA, there is still a long way to go for FA. Graham Beards (talk) 13:51, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Unfortunately, I will have to oppose as with Graham. I will leave some comments though.
  • Two months later, Abu Maraheel competed at the 1995 Arab Athletics Championships in Cairo, Egypt. there’s no other months mentioned. What does “Two months later” correspond to?
  • On 26 July 1996, Abu Maraheel became the first ever Palestinian to compete in the Olympic Games “ever is unneeded.
  • Some other points that caught my eye were that newspapers in references should be italicised and singular numerals should be spelt out per MOS:NUMERAL. 750h+ 14:34, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@FAC coordinators: I would like to request the withdrawal of this article. The nomination had been made before I was able to do edits I had planned which is rather frustrating. Generalissima (talk) (it/she) 17:05, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
