To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 16:14 on 7 October 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

  • Europapa: "that "Europapa" was the first song in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest to be disqualified after the start of the contest?" misrepresents the cited source. The performer, Joost Klein, was disqualified, not the song; see cited source. I suggest substituting some version of ALT1 from the DYK nomination: "that Joost Klein wore an International Klein Blue outfit during his performance of "Europapa" at Eurovision?", although that refers to the rehearsal: source. Yngvadottir (talk) 01:25, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For less of a radical change, how about just "that the singer of "Europapa" was the first in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest to be disqualified after the start of the contest?" Could also change to "in Eurovision Song Contest history" to save a few characters. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 01:57, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How is this hook (regardless of the wording) compatible with WP:DYKHOOKBLP? "Hooks that unduly focus on negative aspects of living persons should be avoided". AndyTheGrump (talk) 02:40, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sekundenlang, Onceinawhile, AirshipJungleman29, and Crisco 1492:   Pulled pending a reasonable alternative (not the suggestions above, ALT1 is a DYKINT fail [yes, even with the Klein–Klein play on words] and the rewording of ALT0 doesn't really help the problem). While you could make the argument that the hook and the article are each DUE in isolation (since the hook doesn't mention the cause of the disqualification), I think that considering them together shows an undue focus on a negative aspect of a living person. Since this is a BLP issue, I think the best option here is to pull, and if a better hook is proposed, I'd be happy to slot it in (although I am going to sleep soon). theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 03:48, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "... that Mokulubete Makatisi placed eighth at the 2022 Commonwealth Games women's marathon despite running in new shoes that she had received late during the race?" Obviously, she didn't receive the shoes "late during the race", the badly written source[1] quotes her mentor "She got her competition attire at night on the eve of the race", making it clear that she only got to run with these shoes for the first time on the day of the marathon. I guess "late in the competition" (i.e. the Commonwealth Games) was changed to "late during the race" by some foolish newspaper editor. Fram (talk) 09:42, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "... that while soldiers carried out relief operations for Tropical Storm Kai-tak, the New People's Army attacked them?" is the claim by one side in this conflict, the article makes it clear that this is denied by the other side[2], so why are we posting the story from one side as if it definitely is the truth? Fram (talk) 09:47, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Apocheir, Zingarese, and SL93: Per WP:DYKHOOK, "first" hooks (whether or not they are hedged with "is believed to be") are exceptional claims that require strong sourcing. In this case, Times source says only that the mayor of Utica believes Nyah Mway is the first, which I wouldn't call strong sourcing – it seems pretty clear from the article that the Times wasn't able to verify the claim independently. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 08:39, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The hook is wrong in any case because the source says he was the first "Karen killed in the United States" by police, not the first "Karen American".
Other than that, an easy fix for the hook would just be to attribute, along the lines of "that the mayor of Utica described 13-year-old Nyah Mway as the first Karen person to be killed in America by police? Gatoclass (talk) 12:38, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re the Sonderkommando revolt, why not link the event being memorialised by having a piped link on the word revolted? Ericoides (talk) 11:18, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a suggested wording or formatting, as linking revolted in the existing Sonderkommando work-unit members in Auschwitz concentration camp revolted upon learning ... would create a MOS:SEAOFBLUE.—Bagumba (talk) 14:52, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's a nightmare to schedule these things but just wanted to point out that having both of the following run in the same year:

3 October

and

7 October

Might be a bit much - Dumelow (talk) 12:59, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
