Countries classified as    "developing" by the International Monetary Fund or    "least developed" by the United Nations will be considered. Articles from "least developed" areas will be given a multiplier.

The 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest will be a championship similar to the WikiCup but with a focus towards developing countries. The WikiContest is played and won by skill of editing. The purpose of this contest is to encourage content creation and improvement in an area often underlooked by editors.

The 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest will begin on 1 July 2024 and signups will close on 15 July 2024. The contest will run from July 1 to September 30. The contestant with the highest score at the end will win!

For the full rules clarifying what points can be awarded for, see Wikipedia:2024 Developing Countries WikiContest/Scoring. Note that they are similar to the WikiCup scoring rules, but with additional bonus points for articles related to developing countries. However, the spirit of the rules is more important than the letter, and the coordinators reserve the right to deny points to anyone deemed to be abusing the system, as well as remove persistently problematic users from the competition. If you believe one of the contestants is abusing the spirit of the rules, intentionally submitting subpar articles with the aim of getting more WikiContest points, or anything similar, please contact one or more of the coordinators. They will look into the matter and take action if necessary. The coordinators for the WikiContest are Ixtal (talk · contribs · email) and sawyer-mcdonell (talk · contribs · email).
