Considering not even a fraction of the topics on this list are encyclopedic, and many of the linked articles are irrelevent to the category referred to in the SUMO class, I think the links should be completely removed. Is there any objection to this? Derrick Coetzee 22:07, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

disagree. the fraction is about 1/3; and if the concept doesn't link to an encyclopedic article, it should link to a dictionary definition, or to a category. if you unlink this stuff, next someone will list it on VfD as being just a list of words. Waveguy 01:31, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Frankly, this is pretty much just a list of words — the article needs a lot more real content to explain what they are, how they're used, and how they were chosen. In my opinion an irrelevent link is considerably worse than no link at all, because it's misleading (takes users to an article on an unrelated topic). Cross-linking them all to Wiktionary isn't a bad idea, though. I don't object to people linking some of these words in a relevent way, but I think the opposite approach of linking them all and then removing some that are bad will still leave some bad links in. Perhaps this list really belongs at Wiktionary. - dcljr 04:45, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Funny, does that means Encyclopedia does not corespont to Ontology :-)? --AndriuZ 21:38, 2005 Jun 18 (UTC)

Many of the links point to disambiguation pages, or (worse) to pages that redirect to disambiguation pages. This is not helpful to readers, which is rather unencyclopedic. Linking is supposed to be informative; I'd suggest removing any link that doesn't take the reader to information that's relevant to what is being said. Veg0matic 05:51, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with SUMO page

edit

This article should be appended to the end of Suggested_Upper_Merged_Ontology because the class enumerations do not mean much by themselves, but they are useful in describing the SUMO.

Merged

edit

I merged this article. (I did by a pretty brute force means: I copied all but the first paragraph of text. The external links were already there. I copied the ontology category as well. I then marked the merged article for cleanup since it needs to be better integrated. I'll be working on that but I'll leave the cleanup tag until it is done).
