How would you describe the nature of this dispute? (policy violation, content dispute, personal attack, other)

  • Answer: I own the original hard copy of a 1961 FBI Wanted flyer in the name of Robert F. Williams, and while researching for my own purposes, came across the wiki entry on the man. I signed up to wiki solely to upload my FBI flier to the wiki entry to authenticate info on the freedom rider section regarding the FBI. My housemate paul and i did uploaded it incorrectly, and it was returned (see SarahMDaugherty contributions page.) A nice member, Root2, adviced me regarding the correct means of uploading the document. My housemate Paul Ortega, who is better at computers than i am, re-uploaded the document under his wiki id: P123. Then, we decided that since i am the owner of the actual hard-copy document that was scanned and the only person able to produce the actual document if needed for verification, the image should be placed under my wiki id. we re-uploaded it under my wiki-id, also the ID on the original returned upload. Today, i checked my contributions page and saw that some unknown person, completely without connection to my upload, myself, my housemate, my computer, or to the hard-copy document, uploaded the image under his wiki ID. it was a baffling and unnecessary upload. The image and labeling and information re access to hard copy was fine before his upload. It feels like theft or a usurp of contribution. baffling, unnecessary, and unknown. Unless he wants to approach the FBI archives, he has no means of producing verification of the document. In addition, this flier was part of my personal non-wiki research... i refuse to let him usurp the claim to my document and undermine my research. I have an MFA in writing. It's not worth it to me. Plee Note tht even my housemate has no access to my 1961 hrd copy fo the FBI imge UNLESS he approaches me for permission, as when we scanned and uploaded it in tandem. The hard copy is my property with other vintage flyers for almost 10 years. I believe the image should acknowledge the same... as did the first upload attempt under my wiki id: SarahMdaugherty (on my member contribution list.)

What methods of Dispute Resolution have you tried so far? If you can, please provide wikilinks so that the Advocate looking over this case can see what you have done.

  • Answer: I messaged Ke4roh and told him i owned the 1961 hard-copy and that my housemate and i had originally scanned and uploaded the hard copy and described the process we undertook. If there is a slant toward a "personal attack" i'm sorry. It feels like i walked in and found a total stranger standing in my underwear... my property.

What do you expect to get from Advocacy?

  • Answer: and answer as to why this guy is usurping previously uploaded images as his own. I don't know the guy and hve no idea why he'd just put it under his name after we successfully uploaded it under mine as the rightful contributor.
