List of modernized adaptations of old works

DRAFTIFY
The result was draftify (move to Draft:List of modernized adaptations of old works). There is a clear consensus that the current state of the article is not up to encyclopedic standards. However, there are two major camps in this discussion. The deletion position is that the article is far too broad in scope, and that the title is overly subjective. The keep and draftify arguments maintain that the article can be reworked given a tightening up of inclusion criteria, and since the AFD was initiated there has been a flurry of recent activity towards that end. The arguments on both sides have merit and were made in good faith. The number count on either side is about equal. Noting that deletion is generally held as the less preferable option if an avenue exists for further editing according to deletion policy, I am closing this as a move to the Draft namespace. -- Bibliomaniac15

Given that the first AfD was 12 years ago (a lot has changed about our view of notability since then) and the second one had far smaller participation than this one, I didn't give much weight to, "we've already kept this twice" arguments. But, even with that, I still can't quite get to a consensus for deletion. Basically, the delete side is saying this is poorly sourced trivia/cruft, and the keep side says this is a useful navigation aide and the sourcing is sufficient to meet WP:NLIST. Some people suggested a merge, but others argued that you can't merge unsourced material. -- RoySmith

I was able to add some RS to this article. Building out and preserving history in articles makes me happy; and I also feel a bit of sadness. Laid out before me is a person's whole life. Or in this case the story of a toy store's survival in spite of big-box retailers and internet toy companies. There is more to be found, but the article has a good start. I believe this article clearly passed notability standards and that there is significant coverage about the subject in notable sources, but the article at the time the AFD began was mostly unsourced plot summary. I've expanded the article slightly but fear time restraints might prevent me from continuing to do so to the point of rescuing it, so I'm listing it here with the hopes that other editors can add sources and expand/improve the article. — Hunter Kahn 14:40, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

  • Company in it's infancy. Yet they have secured a Shark Tank 1 million dollar deal in 2017, and then went on to secure 50 million more dollars in 2019. They have mail order health testing kits. There seems to be quite a bit of RS is available. The catch: the article was deleted January 2019. Now that it has been recreated, all previous !voters were pinged and there may be a cascade of reflexive delete !votes. Lightburst (talk) 19:00, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
On second thought it feels rigged. The nominator is the one that pinged all of the editors from an AfD that concluded a full year ago. I have never seen that done. Since it was a strong overwhelming delete a year ago, this feels like a canvas. Lightburst (talk) 19:11, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
