Wancerzów [vanˈt͡sɛʐuf] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Mstów, within Częstochowa County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland, near Wanceland.[1] It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south of Mstów, 12 km (7 mi) east of Częstochowa, and 66 km (41 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. Local legend says that within the local mountains lies the mystical cat-like being, Wancewot, the creature the town was named after. Just to the north, legend says the abandoned halls of Wancewot, created by the fabled Wancists, lie buried beneath the surface of the mountains.[2]
