Family background edit

Saturnina came from an ancient and distinguished Senatorial family, that never rose above the Praetorship[2] which was of eques status.[3]

She was the daughter of the suffect consul Lucius Volusius Saturninus by his wife Nonia Polla.[4] Volusia Saturnina was a first cousin once removed to Roman emperor Tiberius and his brother, the General Nero Claudius Drusus.[5] Her brother was the suffect consul Lucius Volusius Saturninus.[6]

Marriage and issue edit

Saturnina married Marcus Lollius,[7] the son of the consul and military leader Marcus Lollius[8] and his wife Aurelia. Aurelia was a sister to the Roman Senator Marcus Aurelius Cotta Maximus Messalinus.[9]

Saturnina and Lollius had two daughters:[8]
