Vexillum cavea, common name the bird-cage mitre, is a species of small sea snail, marine gastropod mollusk in the family Costellariidae, the ribbed miters.[1]

Description edit

The length of the shell attains 21 mm.

(Original description) The ovate shell is smooth. It is longitudinally ribbed, ribs obtuse. Its colour is ashy black. The ribs ornamented with a row of small white spots. The columella is four-plaited. [2]

Distribution edit

This marine species occurs in the Indo-west and central Pacific; also off the Philippines and Australia (Queensland)
