January 2007 edit

Hi

I see that you're interested in the Zimbabwe article. That's great and all contributions are encouraged, as long as they can be referenced and are not POV. Please start adding references to your articles, or I will have to report you for repeated vandalism.

Thanks

Hi again

I really am happy to see that you have a genuine interest in Zimbabwe and the article. I think it's positive that differing views come to light here.

I have no problem with your pro-Mugabe/Shona/ZANU-PF bias, but I would appreciate it if you could start adding some references to back up the statements you make.

It really is quite irritating having to remove your statements on a daily basis. Rest assured, that if you were to reference any of your statements with a credible source, they would remain in the article.

Thanks once again for your contributions so far.

Hi Zvidzai

You are correct, editing is allowed in Wikipedia, but POV is not allowed. This means that if something is your personal opinion, it does not belong in Wikipedia. If you make a controversial statement, expect it to be challenged or removed if you do not reference it. Also, just because a certain group of the population is in the majority, i.e. the Shona in Zim, it does not mean that the group's viewpoints are correct. There are more people in the UK than in Zimbabwe. Does that make the the viewpoint of a person from UK more correct than someone from Zimbabwe? I don't think so, and I'm quite sure you don't either. I will keep on removing your POV statements, as I said before, but I will leave them if you provide a reference.

Nausea 07:58, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nausea, I never said the Shonas are correct. However, in Zimbabwe and elsewhere the majority,, decides! That is any issue can be voted on. British people have very strong opinions that people in Zimbabwe disagree with. Whether the Brits are right or wrong is not important to the voting majority in Zimbabwe. I particularly do not care for the Brits. Most of you think you can rule African countries, once did, but no more. Brits are very good at second guessing African gov't, there is a group of us who cannot stand you! But we may smile with you!! Thanks

That's great, Zvidzai: because Wikipedia is a a worldwide encyclopedia, you as a Shona are definitely in the minority, and that means the majority (not you) decides.

And, by the way, I am African, not British.

It's funny that you as a Zimbabwean think that the British can rule an African country (or would want to for that matter). It's only in Zimbabwe where this myth is propagated and I think it's largely due to the insecurities felt by your honorable leader and his cronies.

It reminds me of Animal Farm by George Orwell. Go and read the book and replace Napoleon with Mugabe, Snowball with Britain, Boxer with Zimbabwe's people and Squealer with The Herald.

No one in Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, etc. has this irrational fear of Britain. Only in Zimbabwe where your politics are built on fear and where your country is collapsing is this a factor. Mugabe needs someone to blame when people are dying in the streets and Britain is an easy, though ridiculous, target.

No one but Mugabe and ZANU-PF is to blame for the current state of Zimbabwe. Britain is actually, after all the Mugabe has said about the country, STILL providing aid to Zimbabwe. Don't believe me? Go read [1]. Your beloved country is doing so well that it can't even feed itself any more. Animal Farm indeed.

Also, second guessing a government that is systematically killing off it's population is not a hard thing to do. If my country were in the same situation, I would welcome any intervention by any other country.

I hope that you, Zvidzai, are at this moment in Zimbabwe and not, like 3-4 million of your countrymen, in Britain, South Africa or Botswana. Maybe then you wouldn't be defending the lunatic actions of the Zimbabwean government. It would be quite funny, though, if you were in Britain or the USA. A hardcore supporter of Mugabe and Zimbabwe who doesn't want to live in Zimbabwe due to the atrocious conditions: ironic and funny :)

On the other hand, you might be one of the lucky few who benefits from the raping of your once prosperous country. If that is the case, no amount of rhetoric would convince you that ZANU is wrong and I have wasted my time typing you this message.

Hi again, Zvidzai

I see you are not refuting any of my comments, simply making racist statements on my page.

I find your racist attitude towards whites funny. Maybe the whites of Zimbabwe were racist and you learned how to discriminate based on colour from them.

I must admit that I pity you more than anything else. Discrimination based on race is the last refuge of the weak. Your attitude and comments are actually sad and pathetic.

Also, I must commend the ZBC and ZANU for creating and shaping such a mentality such as yours. It shows that the all the money and time they spent on indoctrination and teaching you how to hate and blame other people for your own problems was not in vain.

Lastly, I noticed that you did not comment on whether or not you were in Zimbabwe, which I take to be due to the fact that you are in fact not. It brings a smile to my face that you are probably in the UK and hating every minute of it. Isn't that the epitome of irony, Zvidzai? A Zimbabwean who blames Britain for all his problems, seeks refuge from his own despotic government in the place he hates.

A Zimbabwean writing in a language not his own, speaking a language he hates, living in a place that's cold and unfamiliar, eating food he doesn't like, removed from his family and friends and STILL supporting the government who brought all this upon him. Irony defined.

Request for page un-protection edit

Hi Zvidzai - If you'd like to make a case for unprotecting Zimbabwe, you can do so here. Also, discussion of article content is more appropriate for the article's discussion page which is why I removed your commentary from the article. Let me know if you have any questions about what I've written. All the best, Figma 18:21, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello again Zvidzai - You most assuredly have a right to your opinion; it's just that Wikipedia is designed to be an encyclopedia: a collection of articles based on facts with references. Personal opinions do not belong on main article pages -- any commentary on article content belongs on the discussion page. To be clear, I have nothing against Zimbabwe or Zimbabweans and I've made no comment regarding economic sanctions in Zimbabwe. I hope this helps clear things up. If you have any reply, please use my talk page instead of my user page. Thanks. All the best, Figma 03:47, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Comments on my page edit

Hi Zvidzai

I agree with you that we should give credit where credit is due, but Wikipedia is not a collection of people's opinions: it is supposed to be an encyclopedia. If you cannot back up your claims with references (such as the Congo's stability, Zim AIDS figures, etc) I will keep on removing them.

I have nothing against you or Zimbabweans in general. In fact, I care very deeply for Zimbabwe and its people as I lived there for a few years and know that Zimbabweans are good, honest people who do not deserve what their country is going through.

I also think Zim is probably one of most beautiful countries in the world and could be a leader in Africa if it weren't for your president.

With that said, all the good intentions in the world cannot change reality. I know what's going on in Zim, and I know how people are suffering. Trying to change the Zimbabwe article to not reflect reality hurts Zimbabwe. Without people getting an objective view of what's happening in Zimbabwe, everyone would think everything was fine, which you and I both know is not the case.

Please also read up on your statements about sanctions. Sanctions are not targeting ordinary Zimbabweans, only certain government figures, such as Spillblood and Mugabe. Stopping these people from traveling to Europe cannot possibly hurt Zimbabwe and I will continue to remove any statement you make to the contrary.

Many of your statements are also racist. I don't care how you feel about Britain, the USA or Europe, but your racism is truly pathetic. We as Africans have fought against racism all our lives and to see your blatant racism here is something no African could be proud of.

Racism? Most definitely edit

Zvidzai

You claim to not be racist, yet you write comments like: "Yaaa.... you white anglos are a very dangerous batch in Southern Africa. Let land reform go ahead. Zimbabweans saw blood ozzing from white farmers yet look the other side, what makes you think Zimbabwe want white minorities back????"

This is a racist statement. You have made many similar statements and this proves to me that you are a racist and that anything you write is bound to be racist and POV. Racism is pathetic and has no place here or anywhere else. As such, your statements are all tainted and mean absolutely nothing. Thus I will keep on removing anything you write.

You also make references to propaganda. You, my friend, are an excellent example of what state propaganda produces. You are so brainwashed into thinking Britain and white people are to blame for all your problems, you cannot see that no-one except ZANU-PF and Mugabe is to blame.

Zimbabwe has no freedom of the media, which means that everything you see on TV and read in the Herald, is what the government wants you to see and think. That is propaganda.

When white people left Zimbabwe you had one of the most prosperous economies in Africa. After 27 years of independent rule, what do you have now? Inflation at 1600%, not enough food and no petrol. Who is to blame here?

Look at South Africa: whites ruled even longer, yet the economy is doing well. What is the difference? South Africa does not have Mugabe, obeys the rule of law and respects property rights. Once again, who do you think is to blame for Zimbabwe's problems?

Please be civil edit

Hi Zvidzai - I reverted several of your edits to Zimbabwe because they were laced with incivility and/or otherwise seemed unjustified. I understand that this is a very important topic to you and that you feel strongly about how the country is portrayed in the article. Your position would be better represented if you kept commentary out of the article -- it does not belong there -- and backed up your edits with citations of reliable sources.

Please be advised that making insulting remarks to others is not acceptable here. Please stop doing so. You may face further action if you persist.

Also, since it seems you never got properly welcomed, I wanted to provide you with a means to more easily access some of the guidelines that help structure Wikipedia. There is a lot of important stuff to read here. I would point out the Five Pillars link as one of the most important to check out.

Sorry this is so late....

Spelling edit

Hi

I saw the work you did on sanctions and you made some good points. I will include the points in an upcoming edit, I just didn't have the time to do so now. The main reason I reverted your work was not that I didn't see your POV, but rather because your spelling and sentence construction is very bad. This reflects badly on the article. The newest version of FireFox has a spell-checker included (you can see spelling mistakes in the browser). You can download it from http://www.firefox.com.

Thanks
