I see that at File:Caprice-bourret.jpg you have stated that the owner of the copyright has released the image under a Creative Commons license. However, I am sure you will understand that we cannot accept the unsupported word of an anonymous Wikipedia editor for this. The following indicates how you may show that suitable copyright permission has been granted.

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:Caprice-bourret.jpg and send an email with the message to permissions-en‐at‐wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:Caprice-bourret.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en‐at‐wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:Caprice-bourret.jpg.

Hi James
I thought I had done all of this - I know I sent the mail to Permissions after receiving it from the photographer and crediting him in the file metadata.
I've been trying to update this image for a couple of months - it's quite frustrating. The new image is more up to date and was uploaded with full permissions to use. Do you think that the problem might be that a pre-existing version of the file, that wasn't correctly tagged, was already present?
Thanks for your assistance

I have looked back at the history of the file File:Caprice-bourret.jpg, and I see that at File talk:Caprice-bourret.jpg you wrote "I have emailed a note from the photographer, with his email address, that gives full creative commons access to the file", so I have restored the file. If a later version of the file was more up to date you may like to upload it as a new version of the one I have restored, but I have restored the one where you did state that the email had been sent. However, there is procedure to confirm that the email has been received and accepted as giving valid copyright permission, rather than just taking your word for it. (I am not accusing you of lying: if I thought that then I would not have restored the file, but clearly the unsubstantiated word of an anonymous editor isn't proof positive.) I have placed a tag in the image's description page indicating that we are waiting for confirmation. If all is in order then an OTRS agent should place confirmation on the image within a few days, and if so all should be well. If not, the image will be deleted again, but I hope that won't happen. (By the way, I have taken the liberty of moving your message below my original post you were responding to. If you don't want it that way you are free to move it back, but that is the way it is usually done on Wikipedia, so it is the way other editors will expect it to be, and doing it the other way can cause confusion.) Thanks James :-) I'll learn the ways of the Wiki eventually.

License tagging for File:Caprice-Bourret.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Caprice-Bourret.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:05, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Capricebourret.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Capricebourret.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Martin H. (talk) 12:57, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
