Learn wiki ways first edit

Sorry for the rude introduction your edits have received, but they are totally unacceptable by Wikipedia standards, as mentioned in my edit summary. You need to learn how to edit collaboratively here, and how wiki formatting and writing is done. This isn't a private website. To avoid more problems, or even having your access blocked, please make small suggestions on the talk page and get consensus before implementing them. -- Fyslee / talk 07:15, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Zoopeda. I agree that some of the other editors were a bit heavy-handed with your edits (they were not "vandalism") and I completely agree that the texts you replaced were totally illegible. But in the end they're right that it's always better practice to go through an article's talk page before you make important edits. But I'm urging you not to be discouraged by this bad first experience! For one, all the additions you made have been saved in the History of this page: you can retrieve them at any time and copy them in a Word document or in a talk page without any loss.
You seem to have a lot to contribute to this page and probably to many others, so I hope you decide to stay and become a Wikipedian. This is actually a lot of fun, and you will soon find out that editing Wikipedia is actually quite simple. It just takes a few days to get used to the recommended style. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
There are also some good articles on China that have been nominated and accepted as "featured articles," the highest quality level on the wiki: Tang dynasty, Song dynasty, Qing dynasty, Shen Kuo, etc. You could check them out to see what kind of format is most recommended. If you press "Edit this page," you will see how people insert footnotes, images, tables, etc. And if you need any help or advice, don't hesitate to come to my talk page, which is linked to my signature below. So as I said, I hope you decide to stay! In any case, good luck with all your projects.--Madalibi (talk) 10:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
To make it easier for you, when editors here refer to the "talk" page, they are referring to the "discussion" link at the top of every page. That page is where we "talk" about how to edit the articles. Use that page to discuss edits before making them. This was also confusing to me when I first arrived here. I wish they would change the name of the link to "talk", but that's the way it is. I hope that helps. -- Fyslee / talk 15:08, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to WIkipedia, your assitance on the Traditional Chinese Medicine article is welcomed edit

Welcome to WIkipedia, your assitance on the Traditional Chinese Medicine article is welcomed. If you ever need help, leave a message on my talk page.

New editors usually get very frustrated by all the policies and guidelines, I sure did. This will go on for many months, so expect it in yourself.
The articles I found most useful to get started at Wikipedia are WP:GF, WP:Civil, WP:BOLD, and WP:RS. PPdd (talk) 01:03, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
