Wikipedia:WikiProject Middle-earth edit

Hi there! Thanks for the note you left on my talk page. I'm not in charge in any sense of the word (you'll find that no-one around here is really in charge), but I am active in the above WikiProject. If you go over there and sign up and discuss things at the talk page, you should find plenty of people willing to help. The Elven genealogy stuff sounds good, but please be careful if you cite your own work (see our conflict of interest guidelines). About the Gondolin article, it is not nominated for deletion. That is a notability tag, which talks about deletion, but isn't actually a deletion dicsussion notice. I've also left a welcome notice above, which should help for general Wikipedia guidelines. Sorry to take so long to reply. Please do ask if you have any further questions. Carcharoth 11:17, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, those conflict of interest guidelines are a bit forbidding. I think in your case (paper on Elven geneaologies), a better link is Wikipedia:No original research#Citing oneself. Again, if you find the wording in those pages confusing, please ask. Policy pages can be a bit impenetrable when first encountered. Carcharoth 11:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
