Yes, Hashima is 雪蛤 in chinese, see links below edit

Zerokitsune,

Hashima is in fact 雪蛤 in chinese... you are not Chinese right? I am sure most Chinese know. It is sold in Chinese medicine shop in bottle. How to I insert the links in the footnotes and picture. Anyway I am new.

But i just realised that under wikipedia it is called Hasma, so how I redirect hashima to Hasma? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cheeyuen77 (talkcontribs) 16:58, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I am not Chinese, but I am Japanese and I know some Chinese language (and I know the Chinese and Japanese reading of 雪蛤). Under Wikipedia policies, your sources are questionable (a blog is not reliable source). Zero Kitsune (talk) 23:17, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi I have just saw the Hasma page and someone has added Hashima in brackets. So it is acknowledged and not questionable? Can you help do a redirect from Hashima to Hasma as I don't know how. Also Eu Yan Seng (a Singapore TCM shop chain actually does use the word Hashima in their products) That why I heard of the word itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cheeyuen77 (talkcontribs) 17:41, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I can confirm that trying to pass the IAST tag into other tags often creates problems. This Quotation formatting is one of the cases where direct formatting seems to be needed. Perhaps there is a way to overcome this, but I don't know what it is. We had similar issues when working on Template:DisplayTranslations. Buddhipriya 21:58, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tripitika/IAST link glitch edit

Just a heads up- in some cases, changing to IAST for linked words breaks the links- there are a number of Sanskrit/Pali technical terms that don't have their IAST-ized forms as an article title or redirect. I just fixed the ones I could find in the Tripitaka article, but I suspect that there are more in other spots- things like Vinaya Pitaka break when the IAST-ized form is used. It's probably a good idea to include the old form of the word as a pipe link when the IAST version is being subbed in. Thanks! --Clay Collier 17:42, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Games and time travel edit

Hi. I just added a near-ridiculous amount of text to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of games containing time travel, aiming to (a) retain and improve the article, or (b) at least have a good discussion to base the decision on. Part of that text is a response to your three-word message where I ask for more detail and invite you to join in in an effort to improve the article should that still be applicable in a bit. Thought you should know. Alternately, you could just leave the matter alone and go watch this video.

Motto of the day edit

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:51, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

IAST for New Indoarian Languages edit

You have inserted IAST tags into my contributions on Oriya script. I'm glad that did not damage the text. But generally speaking, though IAST may be useful for transliteration of Sanskrit, it is ambiguous for NIA languages, because it doesn't distinguish between syllabic "r" ऋ (to be transliterated as "r̥") and the retroflex flap ड़ (to be transliterated as "ṛ"). IAST doesn't agree with ISO 15919. --OldKnip (talk) 15:28, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:28, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories from the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in São Paolo from the 1st - 2nd of March 2012, and I'll be attending:

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:57, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
