They are not trying to change the definition of Iranian peoples iinto just a alnguage to work around what is happening in the Kurdish articles, becuase they know reality is going to hit them and Kurds will soon be defined as an Iranian people. Azeris and Indo-Scythians

-Zereshk, this is Afghan Historian, you probably remember me. I'm working on a new page dealing with Azeri's and I would like to know if you have done any work regarding them. I would appreciate your help. Specifically I would like to know whether you would classify them as Turkic or Iranian. Several people claim them to be a Persian people that have been Turkified and others claim vice versa. Also, I was wondering if you knew anything about the Scythians and their invasion of the area now known as Pakistan and India and of the groups descended from them. On the Rajput page, I try bringing to light the Scythian ancestry of these groups but many other users instead revert to discussion about the mythological origins of these groups. You seem to have a good knowledge of Iranian studies from what read of your comments on the Freddie Mercury discussion (hope no hard feelings there). -User: Afghan Historian

Hello Zereshk. I've already noticed the discussion regarding the word "Aryan". As you might know, I am currently busy with removing POV from Safavids. I'll focus on Iranian peoples when I've more time.

Btw, the expression "Iranian peoples" and "Aryans" is also used by the The Circle of Ancient Iranian Studies.

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Iranian Kurdistan. I understand your fustration with the edit conflict on Iranian peoples: Diyako should absolutely not have re-applied the tag after you had removed it. I've had some disputes with them awhile back, mainly over adding the fact that the Kurds are an Iranian people, which all of them deny. Oh, I was wondering, were the Safavids of Azeri origin? Interesting theory. What do you think about the current president of Iran? He's a bit of extreme on issues, don't you think? And about Heja and Diyako trying to break up the ethnic groups of Iran, I recall watching the BBC once, and they were interviewing the son of the Shah, who lives somewhere outside of Los Angeles. He was saying, "It's not about the past, it's not about me, it's not about monarchy - it's about the right of the Iranian people to choose freely they want for themselves. What I want people to understand is that it's a race against time. Will Iran become a democracy first or will this regime have it's bomb?" [4] And I was thinking, this is exactly what the US government wants him to say! But what they really want to do is have the old regime once again.

About the poetry, does it have to be at the very top of the page? Just wondering.

Ibn Sina

Someone in the Ibn Sina page is deleting the word Persian everyday and I have to put it back on. I gave him three sources that Ibn Sina was identified as Iranian or Persian (including Britannica) and he still edits it. Is there anyway I can stop him? In my opinion he is breaking the rules since I have sources and he does not. I would appreciate your help.

He is also saying that Uzbekistan and Afghanistan were not parts of Persia at the time of his birth but instead parts of the Islamic Caliphate

Is this true? Of course this does not make Ibn Sina any less Persian/Iranian but I just wanted to make sure.

Iranian Watchdog

Aucaman and a few others like Heja Helweda and Diyako have been repeatedly and systematically vandalizing the Iran-related topics such as Persian people and Iranian peoples, propagating false information, maliciously editing/disputing/deleting without one shred of proof to backup their wild claims, applying the strawman falsification approach, trying to establish new 'facts" based on their own personal assumptions and beliefs.

In order to prevent this situation, we need to create an Iranian Watchdog on Wikipedia and guard the integrity and quality of all the Wikipedia articles that are related to Iran and Iranians. Please let me know if you think that's a good idea. --ManiF 13:04, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

hi Zereshk, I was wondering what you think about adding clerical titles to ayatollahs, etc. just like western clergy, for example Thomas Cardinal Wolsey. Elton Daniel's figures concerning Khuzestani Arabs

Do you have a copy of Elton Daniel's History of Iran? If I remember correctly, he states that the population of Khuzestani Arabs was 600,000. Would you be able to verify this? Greetings,

The Azeris in Iran think of themselves as ethnically Azeri, but also Iranian as well, no doubt. Think of Texas: they are proud of being recognized as discreet and separate ("the lone star state", the "Republic of Texas"), and yet they want to be American as well.

See Tabriz's page. Tabriz has always been one of the most patriotic Iranian cities in history. There are more Nationalist Iranian revolutionaries from Tabriz than any other Iranian city in recent history (except Tehran of course. But even then, you'd be surprised at the number of Azeris even in Tehran :) ).

But then again, we like our Azeri-ness to be recognized too.

There are many Iranian tourists visiting Turkey especially İstanbul. There is an Azeri users on Azeri wikipedia. He is not so active but one of the first Azeri speaking users and helped there. But as he said, he is Iranian Azeri and not good at in Azeri language. In your user page there is no mention about Azeri language. The two articles were merged into Iranian cuisine, apparently at the request of Aucaman. I didn't even realize that they were to be merged. Do you think this was a good idea? Yeah, Red needs to go, but it's not likely to happen. He won mascot-of-the-year at some mascot competition in Florida a year or two ago. The ASU administration is campaigning hard to have our traditions designated as "respectful emulation" of tribal practices, but little facts like "No Indians in Arkansas ever wore headdresses or did anything else our Indian Family does at games" will probably win out, and we'll officially become The Arkansas State Red.

Striver has made a bunch of articles with translated English names that are not in wide use (meaning, upon google searching you get only Wikipedia). If you know the Arabic names can you add them and standard transliteration / translation if you know it? Wait one or two days with the Tahrirolvasyleh until I've got a chance to check one source. It seems more than clear to me that the book is genuine; the only remaining question is that of the relation between the Arab-language "Tahrir al-Wasilah" and the Persian-language "Resaleh towzih al-masael", which is apparently a fiqh work of a similar nature and may just be a Persian translation of the same book, according to all I've found. Of the latter work, there is a widely available English translation (A clarification of questions : an unabridged translation of Resaleh towzih al-masael, Boulder: Westview Press, 1984. Khuzestan census

Are there any more recent census figures other than the 1996 census which reports 3.7 million residents? I haven't been able to find any. SouthernComfort 20:39, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Total, for the general population, since I doubt the government provides any ethnically or lingustically based data. The State Department report that Ahwaz provided (see my comments on Talk:Arabs of Khuzestan regarding this matter) alleges that there are between 2 to 4 million Arabs in Khuzestan. And of course, Bani-Torof's report alleges over 4 million (back in 1996). So, it's not difficult to do the math and see that there is a problem here, and yet the range I provided, which I felt was reasonable and adhered to both Ethnologue and CIA, was rejected. So anyway, I've suggested removing the ethnobox entirely. But it would still be worthwhile to acquire more recent census data as far as the general population is concerned. That's very interesting, considering their estimate is 4,277,998. That means, considering the idea that there are "4 million or more" Arabs in Khuzestan, that there are only less than 300,000 or so Persians, Lurs, Laks, and Bakhtiaris - not to mention other peoples inhabiting the province! I think we agreed to merge khaneqah and tekke, and then didn't do it. An anon came along and insisted that khanqah was the preferred spelling. I was going to revert it, and then checked -- khanqah gets many many more google hits than khaneqah! Even more than tekke! User:Diyako is trying to make an alternative ficticious definition of Newroz

FOr Noruz....we are actually now havbing the efinition of Noruz attacked by anti-Iranians!

User:Diyako has created an article on a Turkic-Nowruz without mention of its Iranian history and roots. Soon we will here Nowruz has nothing to do with Iran too. His article is Nevruz. This should be merged or edited properly. He has gone on the Turkish discussions to promote it.

Here is what user:Diyako has written;

Nevruz is the spring festival among Turkic-speaking nations, from Turkey to Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan etc. It is very similar to the Iranian festival of Norouz.

According to Turkish legends Nevruz dates back to era of Gökturks.

Th user Diyako is definnityl anti-Iranian and has an anti-Iranian agenda.

Nevruz is not very similar to the Irnian festival of Norouz it is Norouz!

He has claimed the Kurdish flag has nothing to do with Iran and is a crime to fly in Iran. The Kurdish flag is based on the Iranian flag it is even in the memories of the founders of the Mehbad Republic who wanted to showcase their Aryan and Mede heritage. Back then Kurds only had a oral history about their only know ancestors the Mede and Mede heritage, before other ancestors were accepted. The Sun is also very significant element of ancient Iranian and Zorasatrianism. Diyako is misleading everyone. Go to Kurdistan 20 years ago let alone 50 they will say we are Aryans and our own blood relatives are the Persians. The Kurdish flag is not banned in Iran and is based on Iranian colours. This user also claims the Iranians are only a lingustic group after he saw that the tide was against him that Kurds are in definition an Iranian people so he worked to undermine the definition of Iranian people and even Persians with user:Acuman.

Help

Please help me out with the Norouz situation we have over here. Diyako created articles about the Kurdish version of the holiday and the Turkic version. I would really prefer it if we had them all in one article, so I changed the definition to make it acceptable to all groups, not just Persians. Still, Diyako insists that the Kurdish version needs it's own article, for reasons he hasn't stated. What do you think we should do? CLEAR evidence on Acuman; here is part of the evidence

It has to do with an old discussion in the Kurds and Kurdistan articles and how it was being vandalized and phoney sources were being used. It was pointed out to user:Acuman and Heja, but they ignored it. Read my talk page. It gives you the lead and the trail. The digging in the archieves someone else can do. If you succeed in digging it up from the archeieves you can prove that this group of users are biased and with an agenda. We started a proposal Wikipedia:Wikiethics to state the existing policies coherently and make suggestions on improving the editorial standards in Wiki. I thought you might be interested in contributing to that proposal.

Unfortunately, a pro-porn and pro-offense lobby is trying to make this proposal a failure. They unilaterally started an approval poll although almost no one including me believe that it is time for a vote, simply because the policy is not ready. It is not even written completely.

Editors who thinks that the policy needs to be improved rather than killed by an unfair poll at the beginning of the proposal, started another poll ('Do we really need a poll at this stage?') at the same time. The poll is vandalized for a while but it is stable now. A NO vote on this ('Do we really need a poll now?') poll will strengthen the position of the editors who are willing to improve the ethics policy further.

Hi there. After getting Sassanid Empire a FA status, I think I've learnt everything needed for an article to get featured. For my next project, I'm thinking of some article about Iranian culture: Persian music or Persian literature and I need your help ! (and others !). From what I've seen, Persian literature is in a good condition (thanks to your contributions) and I believe with enough references and a bit expanding it could be easily a FA.

Persian literature

Dear Zereshk, I added some info to Contemporary persian literature. I think it really needs editing. I believe it is still far from being a good article when it comes to contemporary persian literature. I think there are two very important points about Contemporary persian literature : Poetry (Nima, Shamlou, Jalali and Behbahani) and Comparative literature and literary criticism (Zarrinkoub, Meskoub and Hedayat). I tried to address Hedayat's works. however we still lack a short review on what the other 5 guys did. Are you familiar with their works ? Can you help with this part ? Hello Zereshk. I was wondering if you could do a little editing for me. I wrote my first wikipedia article last week. It is about the Irani community of South Asian Zoroastrians.
