Anahita Temple edit

Salam, the problem was User:Fullstop kept removing your edits and replacing others with the false "Kangavar archaeological complex". There is a history of this sort of activity apparently. You should probably keep the articles on your watchlist and make sure the image with reference is not removed again. Khorshid 22:12, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, I think he is correct, or at least more correct. See my bit at the Parthian architecture article. Thanks. The Behnam 07:25, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Khasteh nabashid ba hameye kara roye architecture-related articles. When you have time, can you have a quick look at the Chador article? the history seems to be more about veiling in Iran and dates back to Achaemenid times. Image tagging for Image:Rahi moaieri.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rahi moaieri.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

External links edit

I see you're mass-linking externally to Iranian music sites again. Please assert that you understand how external linking works on Wikipedia - sources must be reliable, and ELs are not a shortcut to featuring topics or groups which do not meet WP content standards for whatever reason. Be especially cautious when adding external links to templates - this is generally discouraged, as templates are to aid navigation between articles, not lead readers away from Wikipedia to unsolicited pages. Thanks, Deiz talk 00:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use as many internal (blue) links as you like. Do not put external links on templates. An external link to a band homepage should only be on an individual article about that band. If "Band X" don't meet the criteria for having an article, or don't yet have an article, it's unlikely their link should be on Wikipedia at all. Obviously, you should not create articles about subjects whose notability you cannot verify.
You can't just pick and choose the parts of WP:EL that you like, your links don't fit with the following line: "a website on a specific subject should usually not be linked to an article about a general subject", ie a band website should not be linked from a general article. The media and radio links cannot be built into Wikipedia - because the stations and publications are not notable?
Youtube: There are copyright issues with youtube content, and great care should be taken to assert and establish that no copyrights are being infringed when linking there. Music videos and episodes of TV shows are consistently on the wrong side of this rule. Deiz talk 22:43, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Links to music videos should only be on the article of the band, not a general article. Make clear the copyright status of the video.

Please don't include redlinks in templates - internal bluelinks only.

I'll have a closer look at the pages you've linked when I have time and see how far we agree about their relationship with :EL. Deiz talk 23:50, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Buchanan_Photo.jpg listed for deletion edit

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Buchanan_Photo.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Image:Buchanan_Photo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Buchanan_Photo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 20:17, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Avini.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Avini.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Bu Ali Sina U logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bu Ali Sina U logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:Bu Ali Sina U logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bu Ali Sina U logo.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:30, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

User:Artaxerex and others are distributing claims mainly by the US strategist Terrill, indicating that Iranian leaders (Reza Shah, Mohammad Reza shah etc) were fascinated by European fascism!! and the good economic and diplomatic relation between Iran and Germany was due to their sympathy with Nazi ideologs!! They claim that Shah wanted to make a center in Iran for Nazis to control the Jews of middle east!!! Yes! these claims are really funny! but very dangerous!

Please note that in the context of the good relation between Iran and Germany, Iranian diplomat Abdol Hossein Sardari at the time of Reza shah, managed to save Iranian Jews in Paris and also many other Jews. He had also support from Iranian regime of the time. Dear Zereshk, no matter what you think about Pahlavi regime or Islamic regime in Iran, please do not let these baseless claims to be propagated in wikipedia. These guys are not accusing a single person of supporting Nazi regime. They are indeed accusing Iran of being a state sponsor of racism and fascism. Please keep an eye on these guys. Thanks. Possibly unfree Image:Jang.jpg edit

Where was it originally downloaded from? - Francis Tyers · 19:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The way I understand it, copyright in Iran for photographs lasts 30 years from the date of publication or presentation. The Iran/Iraq war was between '80 and '88. Which gives us at least 3 years, and at most 11 years until they are in the public domain.

If for example the photographer put them into the public domain before that that, then they would also be in the public domain, but we'd need proof. In the form of a written statement or something.

Another puzzling thing is why you marked them "copyright free use" if they are actually "public domain". The fact that other sites are breaking copyright does not excuse us. Perhaps you could contact them for information about the copyright status? - Francis Tyers · 23:32, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of Iranian architects edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of Iranian architects, by Real96 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of Iranian architects fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

list of links - can get long also has people which are non notable to the encyclopedia

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting List of Iranian architects, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 08:26, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
