Mariental Secondary School is a high school in Namibia's southern town, Mariental.


The history of Mariental Secondary School can be traced back to 1921 when one teacher taught a group of 15 primary school learners in the N. G. Kerk church building. This school evolved over the years until the current secondary school building was inaugurated on the 23rd of January 1962.


Now a secondary school housing grades 8 to 12, the school currently boasts with a total of 614 learners. It is one of two secondary schools in the town which offers classes up to grade 12 and the only school with a school hostel. The current Principal is Mr. R. Poulton who has been the head since 2004. Some of his predecessors were:

The school offers its learners a variety of subjects as per the Namibian school curriculum, the key learning areas that are developed are languages, mathematics, social sciences, natural sciences, technology, commerce, arts and physical education. Upon completion of grade 10, learners can choose a field of study, comprising of six subjects specifically aimed at their career objectives, either on ordinary level (NSSCO) or on higher level (NSSCH).

Learners who excel in sports can further develop their talent by participating in sports such as rugby, netball, hockey and athletics.

The school's mission statement puts heavy emphasis on the need to persevere and succeed, just as it is underlined on the school's coat of arms in Afrikaans "volhard en slag".
