Non-commercial image

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Kahm.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Carlosguitar (ready and willing) 21:19, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of KYCA

edit

A tag has been placed on KYCA, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. KAHM & KYCA wikipages

edit

Thanks for letting me know. The history sections of each article could be expanded as much as you want them to be, just make sure the material is referenced (i.e. you can find a website etc). Pictures would be cool too. By all means, improve the article as much as you want to, just make sure it conforms to Wikipedia's styles, and has a neutral point of view etc. Thanks, keep up the good work! Milonica (talk) 04:59, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since you are down in AZ, do you have any information on KYET 1180? Is it on air "yet"? It seems like that station has been silent since I can remember. Why do they even have the license if they aren't broadcasting. Milonica (talk) 07:37, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good picture! I have properly formatted it and moved it on the page to a better spot. I have an idea for an addition to either KAHM or KYCA or both. They could use a program schedule. I will try and add some info from the website as far as programming goes, you can fill in the rest. Keep up the very good work!Milonica (talk) 19:16, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sure I can check out 1180AM, do me a favor, and look at the new kyca 1940s image I added, it is tagged for speedy deletion
I for one would be interested in seeing those pictures. We don't necessarily have to have that many pictures on the KYCA or KAHM pages, just enough to explain the subject. I believe pictures of the towers themselves would probably be the next ones you could place on the two pages. If you want, you can post them on the article's talk pages and we can go from there.Milonica (talk) 00:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Hi Zeke D!
We thank you for uploading Image:1940s KYCA control.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:The Unforgiven 2, Pt. 3.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:The Unforgiven 2, Pt. 3.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:17, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:1940s KYCA building.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:1940s KYCA building.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:03, 29 September 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 11:03, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:KYCA 2002 Autumn.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:KYCA 2002 Autumn.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 02:01, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:WOTW-SeveredPress-cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:WOTW-SeveredPress-cover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Image file licensing

edit

Hi Zeke D. The licensing of each image you see on Wikipedia is determined by it copyright status and not every image file you see on Wikipedia is licensed the same. Some files are licensed as public domain or licensed under a free licensed suitable for Wikipedia and these are often collectively referred to as "free images". Other files are licensed as non-free content because of their copyright status and these file are commonly referred to as "non-free content".

In general, the copyright owner of a particular image can release their work under a free license of their choosing as explained in c:Commons:Licensing and WP:CONSENT, but this license cannot be for use on Wikipedia only. The copyright holder has to essentially agree to allow anyone anywhere in the world to download their work and use it for any purpose (including commericial). So, if Mark Gardner is willing to do such a thing, he will need to follow the instructions given in c:Commons:OTRS. Please note that he can only release the files if he is the original copyright holder; in other words, he may have written the books, but that does not mean he also created the cover art.

There is another option in which the permission of the copyright holder is not needed, and that is uploading the file as non-free content. Non-free content use, however, needs to comply with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy, which is quite restrictive. Looking at the way you were using the files in Draft:War of the Worlds: Retaliation, I only think it would be possible to justify the non-free use of one of these files in the article. Generally, a non-free image of a book cover is allowed per WP:NFC#cite_note-3 when the image serves as the primary means of identification in a stand-alone article about the book itself. Other uses or other non-free images are much harder to justify and almost never allowed. Another issue is that non-free content can only be used in articles, it cannot be used in drafts.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask them here, at WP:MCQ or at WT:NFCC. Finally, if this edit was made by you, please do not re-add the files again. Wikipedia's non-free content use policy is much more restrictive than fair use and is the only thing relevant when it comes to using these types of files on Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:47, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
