Fair use rationale for Image:Eloy-The-Tides-Return-Forever.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Eloy-The-Tides-Return-Forever.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Andyreply 18:56, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for images

edit

Hello,

After uploading the four following images, I got four messages about fair use

Image:Eloy-The-Tides-Return-Forever.jpg Image:Eloy-Eloy.jpg Image:Eloy-Ocean-2.jpg Image:Eloy-Timeless Passages.jpg

But I've added the { { Non-free album cover } } when uploading the image, isn't it sufficient ? Have I to remove the { { di-no fair use rationale|date=xxxx } } tags ?

Thanks in advance

Fair use rationale for images - I finaly found the answer

edit

Ok, sorry, I'm a bit tired tonight. I've just found the answer on the Media copyright page. --ZeFredz 19:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, you were correct the 1st time in posting to my talk page! You need the copyright tag that ou already have but you also need the legal "paperwork" for it which is available on Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline, there is a template which can be used to fill the requirements. Until you place the completed template please do not remove the deletion notices as you may receive a warning for this. If you need any help please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of Admin or ask on Wikipedia:Help
Is there any filled example of the Non-free use rationale template ? I didn't find any on the other CD cover I checked.--ZeFredz 19:39, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I found one for the Pink Floyd's Animals album cover --ZeFredz 19:40, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I think I have added the template to all the images I have uploaded, thanks for your help --ZeFredz 20:01, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nominate a page for rating

edit

I want to request a rating for some articles I wrote. I've found the procedure here Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Assessment#How_to_nominate_a_page but I don't understand what with an edit summary of "Nominating [ [ ArticleName ] ]" means. Can somebody explain ? Thanks in advance --ZeFredz 09:36, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Look for this

below the editing window, and enter the following text: Nominating ArticleName, replacing ArticleName with the name of the article you're nominating. If you need any help, drop a note on my talk page.

Have a nice day,

Virgin Killer.jpg

edit

I noticed that you had written a well thought out defense in support of the image of the Scorpions cover art for the album Virgin Killer some time ago. I wanted to send you a note to let you know that this image has once again been contested and the result was delete. The Administrator has kindly restored the image to allow further debate. Your participation and vote in this discussion would be appreciated.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Eloy-Logo.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Eloy-Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Water's Edge.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
