You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Zachary Coffin. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Chris 20:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have restored your article, and will not further touch it; but I strongly suspect that, unless you make major changes to it in terms of assertion of notability, some other admin will remove it again.--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 08:00, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Further to this, the notability guidelines for films and actors are here, and they specifically EXCLUDE the IMDB. Chris 10:24, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simple gifts (film)

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Simple gifts (film), by SkierRMH (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Simple gifts (film) fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

duplication of Simple Gifts (film) by same editor

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Simple gifts (film), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:08, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. There is no such thing as "taking down" articles in Wikipedia. As I am not an administrator, it is impossible for me to do this anyway. And, apart from falling on your own sword and requesting of an administrator that your article be deleted once more, neither can you (page blanking is not an option).

I have pointed out the policy violations on the article talk page because it is pointless me submitting Zachary Coffin at Articles for Deletion, as an administrator has already re-instated the previous speedy deletion of the article, although acknowledging WP:COI at the same time. For this reason, it is unlikely that a "vote" would succeed to delete.

There needs to be an indicator of a wrong decision being made in this case, and that is the reason for the article talk page post. Regardless of the notability of the subject, the article should be deleted until a neutral editor, or group of same, create the article in line with policy. There is nothing stopping you storing the source of the article in a Notepad file on your computer until such time as you can contribute to someone else's version of the "you" article. Thanks. I've deleted article and pasted to Notepad. I'm not sure if I should let you know in some other area of the Wiki (it gets a little complex to keep track of the different threaded conversations), but I've made a note also on the actual page. Thanks again -- to both of you -- for your earnest efforts. Best regards, z Zcoffin 16:16, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry you found this necessary, but I am encouraged to know that you intend to conduct yourself as "a proper Wikipedian". You were correct to delete a self-based article, correct to cross-post to my user talk page, and I hope someone will create your article in due course. P.S. When replying, use the symbol : to indent successive posts. Best wishes from Greece. Ref (chew)(do) 06:58, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
