Welcome!

edit

Hello, ZappMCE, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Evgueni and Sacha Galperine, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi KJ cheetham and thanks for reaching out.
I wouldn't call it a conflict of interest, as I don't work for the party in question, but have merely been in contact with them and know more about their biographic details than the prior author of the wikipedia entry. That's why I've updated it. I hope that's ok?
I also would like to change the title of the article but, as I understand, am not yet able to do this myself. The reason for why I believe a change is necessary, is that the French, much more detailed, article (of which I translated most parts of my entry + added the new information from various press texts, which I've referenced in the page) also only refers to Evgueni Galperine, not his brother Sasha Galperine. Evgueni Galperine is a composer in his own right and I don't quite understand why there would be one entry for the combination of two people (unless they were a band etc.). How can I go about "moving" the page?
Kind regards. ZappMCE (talk) 20:10, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
On French Wikipedia, articles exist on both fr:Evgueni Galperine and fr:Sacha Galperine. It also seems that the two brothers collaborate frequently. So anything that supports notability of Evgueni would also support notability of Sacha. (The two of them would get credit for mostly the same works). Would this lead you to think we should have a separate article on Sacha Galperine? If Evgueni is notable wouldn't that suggest that Sacha is notable as well? I agree 100%. Which is why I've already translated Sasha Galperine's wikipedia entry as well and have added some additional information from various sources to his possible english article. However, I'm not yet allowed to create a wikipedia article. ZappMCE (talk) 09:52, 30 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Any sort of connection outside of Wikipedia can potentially be a conflict of interest, don't need to work for them. WP:COIE and WP:EXTERNALREL may help to explain. I'd recommend declaring your connection on the article's talk page to be on the safe side. For adding to the article, you'll need to add WP:RELIABLE sources, rather than use your own personal knowledge. Regarding moving the article, I see you've already got a request in at WP:RMTR, so it'll be processed in due course. Failing that it can be raised via WP:RM, which requires at least 7 days to allow time for discussion. -Kj cheetham (talk) 18:29, 30 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I See - well this is a lot more complex than I'd anticipated. I merely wanted to update the page with some new information (all found in press texts and the ECM Records website, which I added to the references - not from "personal knowledge") and create two sites for these musical personalities. Instead of doing this myself then, as it's obviously a problem and I'm clearly not well-versed in the ways of wikipedia, is there any way I can propose changes and improvements for other Wikipedians to implement? Via the respective talk page? ZappMCE (talk) 19:16, 30 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've not looked into this specific situation very carefully, but in general the talk page is the way to go if there's COI. WP:COIREQ has some more details of how to request edits. Another option is to ask at WP:TEAHOUSE to discuss if this actually does count as a COI. -Kj cheetham (talk) 19:46, 30 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@ZappMCE: as an aside, when requesting edits, you may find the edit request wizard helpful. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:55, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
ZappMCE, I went ahead and did the technical move that you requested. So now we have just a single article at Evgueni Galperine. You should be able to create a real article at Sacha Galperine if you wish. Just click on this link, hit the edit button, and then enter your new article content. Much appreciated EDJohnston. Now working on the Sacha Galperine page. ZappMCE (talk) 10:25, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
