Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Antonio Pio Saracino

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Antonio Pio Saracino, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyvio

edit

Can you re-write the article in its entirety? I know that you say that it's released into the commons, but it's highly recommended that when writing an article that you re-write it in your own words. In most situations it's because even if all rights to the content is given up as fair use, the text will likely still contain peacock phrases that would set off concerns of promotion. Using Saracino's own text also brings up concerns of self-promotion because it's something he wrote as opposed to being something that was written by a non-COI editor. Leaving it as it is now, I can guarantee that the page will be repeatedly dinged for copyvio even if this is registered as fair use. It's the easiest way to solve the issue on the page in general. Other than that, the tone is also fairly casual for an encyclopedic entry. I would really recommend re-writing it. I can't stress enough how much easier it would make everything in general and it would keep people from continuously tagging the page for deletion in the future. • I've moved it to your userspace at User:Zanglazor/Antonio Pio Saracino so you can work on re-writing it. The thing about the fair use rationale when it comes to text is that you're still expected to re-write the content for Wikipedia. Not only would there be issues with people assuming it's promotional, worrying about peacock prose, and showing concern that Saracino is essentially controlling what is on the page, but a few have also expressed concern that at some point in the future the original author of the work might try to claim ownership of the writing in some form or fashion. Basically put, Saracino might be upset that it doesn't sound good enough or wants to change it, then tries to yank it from the page. We've had people do similar-ish stuff in the past. I also have to be blunt and say that most of the concern would be over promotion. I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't stress how much this can negatively affect your editing reputation on Wikipedia. The last thing you want is for someone to automatically assume that you're a paid editor or that you're doing copyvio or any number of concerns. The easiest way to avoid all of this is to just re-write it. It's annoying, I know, but it's just the easiest way around everything. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:52, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • If you want, I don't mind helping with the re-write. I'll be going to class very shortly so I can't do it right now but I don't mind helping to clean it up. I figure if I'm going to ask you to do a complete re-write of a rather large article, the least I can do is offer to help. Offhand, the only sections that will need to be re-written will be the first three sections. The works section will understandably have information in it that will always be substantially similar to anything he posts anywhere. I just don't want this to be deleted outright, is all. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:55, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh my goodness, thank you for being so helpful, even if it was deleted; your explanations all make sense. I will work on the larger version, making sure to reword more carefully. Not sure if you can help on this, but I did post a much smaller version on the old talk page, where I was very careful to reword things and use independent sources where possible - until the big one gets ironed out, do you think that could be found, perhaps popped live as a placeholder? I think it might be deleted already, though, let me look. Zanglazor (talk) 13:01, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Couldn't find but no biggie, I will just work on the big one. I have to take my friend to the dentist soon, but after that will spend some time in the sandbox. Thank you for your offer to help edit: of course you are very welcome to (maybe it is a topic that interests you), and editing with other people is always better in the end! I like to edit, though, so I don't mind working on it myself. If you are busy like it sounds, perhaps I could ask to use your time as a reviewer, before there are any attempts to put it on the real page again? I would so very much appreciate that :) I doubt it would take too long. Zanglazor (talk) 13:40, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Cleaned it up

edit

I've cleaned it up and pasted it into the mainspace. We can always continue to add and flesh it out, but the hardest part (the re-write) is done. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:45, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
