Speedy deletion nomination of STEP (modding) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on STEP (modding) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. BiH (talk) 18:52, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The article has been deleted. Addressing some of the things you wrote on the talk page to contest the deletion:
  • This content is valid and accurate. — validity or accuracy have nothing to do with the inclusion criteria for Wikipedia articles, namely Wikipedia:Notability, and in this case WP:CORP as applied to a community or organization.
  • This page was created specifically to put the community of TES-game modders on the map as a legitimate group worth recognizing — That is not the purpose of Wikipedia, and never has been. The policy on that is strict and not negotiable: Wikipedia is not to be used for publicity purposes.
  • the STEP project is an open community project that is not for profit — irrelevant for notability, we routinely delete articles every day about nonprofit entities that don't meet the WP:CORP threshold for inclusion.
  • This areticle exists solely for the sake of posterity — Wikipedia does not publish articles for posterity.
  • We educate and inform, and we have no political agenda — your organization's mission, while worthy, has no bearing on the question of whether to keep or delete the article. Notability is all that matters.
Because you clearly have a conflict of interest regarding this topic, I recommend you give Wikipedia:Conflict of interest a thorough reading. Anyone with a conflict of interest about a topic should not be writing articles about that topic in main article space. Instead, you should submit them through that WP:AFC process, where a neutral reviewer can judge its suitability and make recommendations for improvements.
Also, see WP:42 for a good overview of what is needed from an article about this topic. If you can write something that follows those simple requirements, then the article would not be deleted. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:33, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I am unable to follow the instruction, because the instructions are inaccurate (clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion".). I also cannot see the article content that was deleted so that I can make corrections or qualify according to linked criteria (reasons for deletion). Z929669 (talk) 15:19, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
You can ask a friendly WP:Administrator to WP:Userfy the article. 7&6=thirteen () 19:41, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
