Hyehwa Station Protest

edit

Hi Ypark025,

I have moved your new page from Hyehwa Station Protest back to your userspace, at User:Ypark025/Hyehwa Station Protest.

It is not OK to put an article into mainspace with zero references, or reliable sources, and lots of empty headings. When moving it to mainspace, please strip empty sections, and ensure there is a reliable source for the information contained. I don't much doubt that the event happened, but I doubt that anybody cared, and you have to prove someone somewhere cared by showing a publication about it. I boldly re-userfied because the page would be surely deleted if in its current state. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 06:21, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you SmokeyJoe! Ypark025, what you need to do here is to add sourcing to the article and to continue working on it. I do have some notes:
  • It looks like part of the article deals with the women's movement in South Korea. Something like this would be best in the article on Feminism in South Korea, as a redirect for women's movements in the United States redirects to second wave feminism and women's movement redirects to feminist movements. In any case, an article about the station protest should only cover the past movements in relation to the protest. I'd say that this should really be a single subsection that gives a very general overview, as the main article on feminism in South Korea should cover this material in more depth.
  • As stated above, this needs more coverage to show where the protest is notable. Keep in mind that the coverage doesn't have to be in English. It can be in any language, it just has to be in a reliable source. Some of the sources I found in English are these: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9]. It looks like it's mentioned in this journal article as well. It does look like it gained global coverage, so it should be notable - however I'd definitely search in Korean if you are able to do this. If you need help on this, there is a Korean WikiProject (WP:KOREA) where there will likely be someone who is fluent enough to help you search. The Korean for the station is 혜화역, per the article title on the Korean Wikipedia and there is an article on there about the protests, but it's slim pickings. ([10])
  • When writing, make sure that you stick to a formal style and that it doesn't come across like it's coming from a specific viewpoint. Essentially you don't want this to read like a warning or something to raise awareness of a huge injustice. I doubt that many wouldn't see this as a huge violation of privacy and safety, but it still has to be neutral. I can help you with this if you like.

I hope that this all helps! Leave a post on my talk page if you want some help on this! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:31, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
