Hello, Young Jedi Ty, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Epic of Gilgamesh

edit

Hi! I had some notes of the work. The first thing I do want to say though, is that if your work is removed from an article you should not re-add it without first discussing it on the article's talk page. It looks like the work was removed twice by two people other than myself and the second time it was removed, the editor requested that you discuss the addition on the talk page. Re-adding the material like this is seen as edit warring and can actually be seen as disruptive, even if your intentions are good.

My main concern here is that this is a reflective opinion essay on the specific topic of how women are represented in the EoG. There's sourcing, but it looks like it's being used more to serve as evidence to prove the validity of a claim rather than being used to show that the source is where the claim was explicitly stated. Essentially on Wikipedia we can only summarize what has already been stated in a reliable source - if it's not in the source, it shouldn't be included, as it's considered to be original research (claims, conclusions, and such created by yourself that aren't actually in the source material).

My recommendation here is to re-write the article to where it only covers claims that were explicitly stated in source material. You may need to search for other sourcing, which may be difficult to find due to this being such a specific, narrow topic. The section should only cover information as it pertains to the EoG and shouldn't contain any original research. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:30, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
