Information icon Hello, I'm Vsmith. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. --Vsmith (talk) 13:54, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

August 2021 edit

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Rapid prototyping. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1] MrOllie (talk) 12:56, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dear MrOllie, I received your email about deleting the two inappropriate external links I added. I apologize for my misconduct, and I will not make this mistake again in the future.

Let me explain, as a person who specializes in Rapid Prototyping, I do think that these professional articles written by Michael of this company are very good, even more informative than many articles in Rapid Prototyping's References. I recently read some of his articles and think it is worth sharing with others. I didn't think about advertising and other issues, please forgive me.

External links and reliable sources edit

Hi - all of your edits so far have been to add links to the RpProto website. That is a promotional website operated by a commercial company - it is not a reliable source, or a valid external link for any article except perhaps an article about the company itself (in which case I'd expect the link to go to their homepage). I assume that you are connected to that company in some way - you should familiarise yourself with the guidance at COI and at WP:PAID. If you persist in adding links to that website to our article, your account may be blocked from editing. Best Girth Summit (blether) 13:20, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
