Welcome!

edit

Hello, Yohan Mahima Perera, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your edit to Chris Silverwood does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  Skywatcher68 (talk) 14:57, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Cricketer infobox

edit

Hello. Could you take a look at Template:Infobox cricketer which is the documentation for the infobox that we use for cricketers.

I've noticed some things that you seem to be doing that are non-standard and have the potential to cause confusion:

  • one role only please - there is no need to add a confusing and over-detailed set of roles for different formats. The infobox is supposed to be a summary of the main text of the article. If there are different roles someone has taken in different formats that belongs in the prose, not in the infobox;
  • in general go with the role that is specified in the CricInfo profile - unless you can source specifically any other role;
  • don't add incited nicknames - there has been substantial vandalism surrounding this area if editing in the past;
  • for bowling actions, please don't "pipe" to make the link include the right or left-arm element. So use Right-arm [[off break]] not [[Off break|Right-arm off break]]. The link looks as if it's on both parts otherwise;
  • don't pipe chinaman. This is a depreciated and, frankly, in most of the world clearly racist term. Wisden moved away from using it a number of years ago and no major reference source that I'm aware of uses the term these days.

Thanks. I'll see any message you leave here in the next week. After that you'll need to leave a message on my talk page. Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:50, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm Chanakal. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Chamika Karunaratne seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Googly Syndrome moved to draftspace

edit

Thanks for your contributions to Googly Syndrome. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has too many problems of language or grammar and Text is most likely generated by an AI chatbot.. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Florificapis (talk) 09:10, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Warning about using AI chatbots (Draft:Googly syndrome)

edit

  Hello, I'm Florificapis. An edit that you recently made seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or another application using such technology). Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and output must be carefully checked. I have reverted your edit. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Florificapis (talk) 09:13, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm Sumanuil. Thank you for your recent contributions to Ashen Bandara. I noticed that you added an image to the article's infobox as a thumbnail. In future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox, as this is against the Manual of Style. When adding an image, supply only the filename to the |image= parameter and the caption to the |caption= parameter instead. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using; please consult the Template page for the infobox being used on that page for proper instructions and documentation. Thanks! - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 07:07, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
