Proposed deletion of Suleiman Mousa 1946.jpg

edit

The article Suleiman Mousa 1946.jpg has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on [[Talk:{{{1}}}|the article's talk page]].

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

The image of (File:Suleiman Mousa 1946.jpg) has been nominated for deletion because no wiki article links to this image —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fngosa (talkcontribs) 20:48, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ymousa, where did you get this photo from? Did you take it back in 1946?--Rockfang (talk) 01:46, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rockfang, this photo was taken back in 1946 and I am planning to add it to the article "Suleiman Mousa" at the appropriate time. If you would prefer I delete it now and reupload it when appropriate I wouldnt disapprove. I have just linked the file's description to the desired article (Suleiman Mousa). Forgive me for not doing this before. --Ymousa (talk) 12:57, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for replying. There is no need to delete it just yet. The image says that you are the copyright holder. This may not be the case though. Whoever took the photo initially could possibly own the copyright still. Or, it could be in the public domain due to it's age. That is why I was asking where you got the image. If you could share where you got it from, we could fix any licensing problems and possibly increase the odds of the image staying.--Rockfang (talk) 16:38, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Rockfang, kindly refer to my reply to seresin below. Thank you. --Ymousa (talk) 23:57, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your uploaded images

edit

Where did they come from? Are you suggesting you took each picture yourself? ÷seresin 20:42, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

seresin, I am not saying I took each picture myself. Notice that all the pictures relate to the same person (Suleiman Mousa) who was my late grandfather. The pictures were originally taken by a private photographer which means that my grandfather was holding the copyrights. Now that he has passed away, and as copyright holders after my grandfather, we published the images. I hope I have cleared any misunderstandings. --Ymousa (talk) 23:36, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Why are you under the impression that your grandfather held the copyrights to the photos, and why did those rights pass to you? ÷seresin 00:53, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The photographer was private meaning that he does not work for a newspaper or a magazine. Therefore, the photos were only given to my grandfather and no one else had access to them except our family. After his passing, the rights were lawfully passed to my father and he has granted me permission to publish the photos.--Ymousa (talk) 22:04, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
If I may make a suggestion here: A public Wikipedia talk page may not be the best place to determine the finer points of ownership over inherited copyrights and such. I would recommend you contact the OTRS permissions team as described on Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ("permissions-commons AT wikimedia DOT org" (make nessesary replacements to turn that info a valid e-mail), correspondence with them is confidential so you can attach whatever kind of documentation they think is necessary to prove your claim without having it become public information. If they agree that you have the right to release the images we can undelete whatever files have been deleted already or you can simply re-upload them to Commons. --Sherool (talk) 15:13, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sherool, although I have read the procedure as described on Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, I remain unsure how to proceed. Are you suggesting I send an e-mail to ("permissions-commons AT wikimedia DOT org" (make nessesary replacements to turn that info a valid e-mail), attaching certified pictures of my ID that relate myself to Suleiman Mousa to prove my identity? If not, please clarify what I am expected to attach and what necessary information will be required.--Ymousa (talk) 22:04, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Wajih Owais

edit

The article Wajih Owais has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Airplaneman 18:02, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Airplaneman, the article Wajih Owais has now been referenced, thank you. Ymousa (talk) 18:22, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:JUST logo1.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:JUST logo1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:20, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sfan00 IMG, I am no longer in need of the logo File:JUST logo1.jpg as I have uploaded a more accurate replacement which is currently being used in the article Jordan University of Science and Technology. My apologies for the inconvenience, please go ahead with the deletion. Thank you. Ymousa (talk) 19:36, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:JUSTstudents.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:JUSTstudents.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:37, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sfan00 IMG (talk), please delete the file, I am no longer in need of it. My apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused. Ymousa (talk) 09:53, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add hoaxes to Wikipedia, such as you did in the article Battle of Karameh‎. Hoaxes are caught and marked for deletion shortly after they are created. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia – and then to correct them if possible. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia in an attempt to test our ability to detect and remove such material. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia to learn more about this project and how you can make a positive impact. Thank you. --Jiujitsuguy (talk) 13:49, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

As a result of the Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Palestine-Israel articles, the Arbitration committee has acknowledged long-term and persistent problems in the editing of articles related to Israel, Palestine, and related conflicts. As a result, the Committee has enacted broad editing restrictions, described here. License tagging for File:JAFlogo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:JAFlogo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:05, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

edit

For continuing to upload copyrighted images and claiming them as your own work, you have been blocked for a short period of time. The most egregious was the last one - the "Desert Iris" - as you clearly cropped out another site's watermark, which indicates that you knew what you were doing was inappropriate. When the block expires, please stop stealing other people's work. (ESkog)(Talk) 22:00, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:5 JOD Reverse1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Amman Workshop 11-12 April 2012

edit

This research project (which I am part of) is looking for participants for a workshop in Amman in April. The workshop is about representation of and by the Middle East and North Africa, in various language Wikipedias, and looking at barriers to contribution and ways to overcome them

In particular we are interested in those who edit from or about the Middle East, either extensively, or who have been discouraged from editing more due to on-wiki issues.

Full details at http://www.zerogeography.net/2012/02/open-invitation-to-workshop-in-amman.html.

All the best,

File permission problem with File:Libmodel JUST.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Libmodel JUST.JPG.

If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 13:14, 31 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Medical education in Jordan

Speedy deletion nomination of Medical education in Jordan

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Medical education in Jordan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.3109/01421590903196953. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Medical education in Jordan, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to contain material copied from http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.3109/01421590903196953, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Medical education in Jordan saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Drchriswilliams (talk) 20:27, 23 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Specialty Hospital, Jordan

edit

Your addition to Specialty Hospital, Jordan has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:03, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Virgin Radio Jordan

edit

The article Virgin Radio Jordan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails the WP:GNG. I cannot find significant coverage, including of the period when the station was/is? Star FM or Star Radio. Website is down, social media inactive since 2020.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
