Image copyright problem with Image:Jerome.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Jerome.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. tomf688 (talk - email) 01:45, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Mohair-stranded.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mohair-stranded.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Unspecified source for Image:Mila Kunis.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mila Kunis.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:18, 20 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 21:18, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Wikipedia on American Dad.png edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Wikipedia on American Dad.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 21:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Block edit

You said: "Hey, thanks for blocking me (yesyoudid) without letting me explain myself!"

You were given repeated warnings that the images you had been uploading were missing mandatory information. Additionally, please see WP:SOCK. You are not permitted to edit from another account or IP address to bypass a block. --Yamla 22:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well I can't give the explanation that you asked for if I'm not allowed to edit descriptions. Yesyoudid 22:28, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
You had the opportunity when you uploaded the images. You have been warned about this before. If you aren't willing to provide the mandatory information, please refrain from uploads. However, if you are willing to provide this for all the images you have already uploaded and all of them going forward, and if you have read and understood WP:FU, please indicate and I will unblock you. --Yamla 22:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
You asked me what TV show the screen cap was from and I updated it. Am I missing something? Yesyoudid 22:33, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, Image:Mila Kunis.jpg is missing the mandatory source. Image:Wikipedia on American Dad.png is currently being used in violation of its license but that is only your problem if you added the image to Talk:Wikipedia in popular culture. However, which episode it is from is still not identified, nor is there a rationale. I haven't looked at the other images you have uploaded. --Yamla 22:36, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
So why did you ask me to do something if that doesn't solve the problem? What do you want? Do you want the episode number, production number timestamp? Be clear. Yesyoudid 22:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, episode number or production number or date of original airing. And it must be used to provide critical commentary on that article, not for general illustration. Also, please read WP:FU. A number of your uploads violated our fair-use policy. --Yamla 22:46, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
HOW CAN I DO THAT IF YOU BLOCK MY ACCOUNT?!?! Yesyoudid 22:48, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have already stated that if you agree to fix the problems with the images you have already uploaded and provide this mandatory information on all future images you upload, as required by our policies, and if you have read and understood WP:FU, I will unblock you. You have not yet indicated you are willing to do this. --Yamla 22:54, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Paul.smith.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Paul.smith.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 22:39, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Comment on unblock request edit

First, can we please keep things civil according to WP:CIVIL? Second, were there any final warnings given that said if you do this again, you will be blocked? Diez2 01:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

1. Ok 2. There were none. Yesyoudid 02:19, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Final warnings are not required in the face of continued violations of policies. Numerous warnings were given, however. I count 11 such warnings, though some of these may have come after the block. In any case, Yesyoudid, I stated hours ago that I will unblock you once you have read and understood WP:FU and once you agree to start abiding by Wikipedia's image copyright and fair-use policies, and to provide the mandatory information on your images. --Yamla 02:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:Mark.Geragos.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mark.Geragos.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Now vandalism? edit

You're just off a block and now you're resorting to vandalism such as here and here? You're very close to being permablocked. —Wknight94 (talk) 19:40, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would think the bear thing is less vandalism as it is humorous, given that it was put in a (quite unfriendly) comment. Voretus 18:33, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have blocked you for vandalism, you have received plenty of warning about this. This account is looking more and more like a vandalism only account, which we block permanently. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 16:38, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nirvana edit

Hi, regarding 420 (cannabis culture), the fact that Nirvana used drugs does not mean that this is not a coincidence. Two pints of John Smith's at Pit and Pendulum in Nottingham cost £4.20, and most of the staff there smoke pot, but it is still a coincidence. Hopefully you see what I mean? Although, if you can find a source to back up your claim the information would fit perfectly on the article. Thanks. Jdcooper 18:48, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

    • I meant a source that its not a coincidence, rather than a source that the timing is wrong. That is not in dispute, it just doesn't belong on 420 (cannabis culture). Re: Even In His Youth, thanks for the heads up, the unsourced stoner speculation is now removed from that article. Jdcooper 02:55, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mohair-small talk.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mohair-small talk.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Co. v. Krayenbuhl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not referenced state supreme court decision with no proof of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 13:41, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
