Pity the cricket articles don't get much of a review unlike the Australian military ones. They get lots of attention. There are lots of ways that however can be punctuated. 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final FA review

edit

Hi, thanks for the suggestion in the FA review to add a secion on pre-match analysis to the article. I've made an attempt to do that and look forward to hearing your feedback on it. Unfortunately, there were not many reliable sources that had much to say regarding player-to-player match ups, but I did find a number of quotes from the coachs and owners regarding the match. I also discussed the lone previous head-to-head matchup between the two teams and some stats about previous cup finals. Hopefully this is what you were looking for with your comment. Since this particular section is now all new, I would really appreciate it if you could to a quick copyedit of the content as well to make sure I've used good grammar and phrasing. Thanks again for your review and feedback! --SkotyWATC 04:05, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

He'll skip the next two months of ODIs, there's a couple of tourneys in May-July. Of course the media will never say anything about club before country, unlike the Aus media who slated Hayden after he got injured in 2008 with CSK and missed the WI Tests. apparently CA gave him a pay cut. HAve you seen the article saying that the players finish at 10.30pm or whatever, and when they finish up they have to go to parties and meet corporates until 4am. Great culture lol, but not surprsing when the commentators analyse the girls and corporates more than the rising players. Wonder if they have to drink Mallya's grog?? And Dhoni is dropping Murali everywhere. He should just drop Thusara and play lots of spinners. The pacers are all horrible anyway and worse in the powerplay anyway. YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 07:14, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Mallya's grog isn't bad, among the finest if you ask me :) Yeah, they have to go to parties and stuff, they've become paid entertainers now, no longer sportspeople. Apparently Symmo's exchanging text messages with Mandira Bedi now, all courtesy of the after cricket parties. Wonder if Hayden will go out in favor of Albie/Murali today. —SpacemanSpiff 05:57, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't know why the teams don't just use the frontline batsmen as bowlers as most of them are better than the Indian speicalist bowlers and "allrounders" that they use are so bad. Raina isn't much worse than Ashwin/Jakati and Sehwag is better than Ladda the leggie. White couldn't be any worse than Appanna. Rohit >> Harmeet Singh. And Kumble is the worst captain. Kohli > White at bowling? He bowls 95 kph seam!!! YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 06:03, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also I noticed that almost all the teams have some kind of grog advertising. Wonder if that's why the teams don't buy up Pakistani/Bangaldeshi players/Amla/Shakib etc. I wonder if maybe someday a political party like Shiv Sena will buy an IPL franchise and then we have apartheid teams YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 06:05, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't be surprised if things turn around. It's the underworld that make a lot of the decisions, although I haven't been reading on this stuff about him owning some teams and this COI. I wouldn't be surprised if Mumbai fall over. They've got good players but apart from SRT, Zak, Bhaj and Longhair, the other Indians haven't been doing great... R Sathish hahaha and Rahane is nowhere to be seen. Bravo and Duminy are looking off colour as well. wonder if they will just play Dilhara as well instead of McLaren. The batting looks off-colour apart from SRT and Longhair. Aside from the two conservatives in their batting and Taylor/White not doing well in the 4th OS slot, BRC look pretty good. and Kumble shouldn't let Kohli bowl (worse than KP/White). Wonder if CSK will just drop Hayden and use Murali instead; too bad they didn't have Mukund in their squad, then they could get rid of Balaji who bowls worse than Raina anyway. Only CSK can stop themselves from beating Deccan. Still KKR have had the best players of all types for ages and are the wrost across the three years. No I hadn't seen the interview actually. No KM unless he's moved back to India. I don't think India can rely on hitting so many sixes at the WC because RSA/AUS/NZ won't drop two sitters every innings, and they'll probably manage the odd screamer so the borderline six might get cut down. Steve Smith actually twice in one T20 against WI, ran from deep square to deep mid-wicket and caught two relatively flat hits that would have gone another 15-20 metres; he intercepted them about 2.5 above the ground with a big vertical jump. And lucky for Australia, Lee got injured. Hopefully Clarke gets injured so they can bring in Shaun Marsh. Just looked. Wow. Maybe they will break up now if they have to take pay cuts. Shouldn't it be really easy for teams to rort it by funneling off money to shareholders etc who then buy gifts and houses for players' family etc? I suppose in some cases they could even buy cocaine and hand it to the players but they could end up in jail if they do that, or end up like Stokes YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 07:47, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
You'd think so. I remember when Carlton exceeded the cap and only lost draft picks. Wonder what the capacity of Aurora Stadium will be now a stand has been removed? I read the other day that they want to covert the stadium into a 25,000 all-seater. I dunno why they bothered with finishing the stadium with such a low capacity. When St Kilda played Hawthorn last year, the match was sold out within 5 minutes, so you had next to no chance of getting tickets. And Hawthorn have 10,000 Tasmanian members and there's about 500 ground members, all in a stadium that has a seating capacity of only 11,500. Seating is always sold out weeks in advance unless Adelaide, Fremantle or Port Adelaide are playing. Are they still progressing with the Adelaide Oval AFL idea? Aaroncrick TALK 08:40, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well Rann's in there so maybe it might proceed although there might be a lot of heritage-based court challenges. Still the arguments over the stadium wrt AFL are a joke. They should play soccer there, might have the pitch more sporting. Personally I think they should just abolish the salary cap, there are too many bad teams in AFL adn NRL, killing a few of them off would be good. Nobody needs to see Richmond or Melbourne-standard play and with GWS and GC it will just get worse. Thank you for your participation in the April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive

edit
GAN backlog elimination drives chart up to 1 May

On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, I'd like to especially thank you for your efforts over this past month's GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a complete success, which hopefully results in more expedient good article reviews, increasing users' confidence in the good article nomination processes. Even if you made just a small contribution, it still helped contribute to the success of this drive. Here is what we have accomplished this last month in this drive.

  • 661 total nominations were reviewed. 541 of them passed (~81.8%), 97 (~14.7%) failed, and 23 (~3.5%) ended on hold.
  • The WP:GAN page started at 110,126 bytes length on 1 April and ended at 43,387 bytes length at the end of 30 April (a 66,739 byte reduction in the page, about 60.6% less).
  • Excluding extremes, the longest wait for someone's GAN to be review was about 11.5 weeks at the beginning. (I mistook the figure when I reported to the Signpost that it was 13.) At the end, with the exception of one that was relisted, the longest wait is now at 10 days.
  • 63 different users participated, each having completed at least one GAN, with others also having helped out behind-the-scenes in making the drive a success.
  • The drive started with 463 GA nominations remaining and 388 unreviewed. At the end of the month, we ended with 89 remaining (374 or about 80.8% less) and 47 unreviewed (341 or about 87.9% less).

For those who have accomplished certain objectives in the drive, awards will be coming shortly. Again, thank you for your help in the drive, and I hope you continue to help review GA nominations and overall improve the quality of articles here on Wikipedia.
