"Will in China" edit

Remember how you said Ekky's friend User:Will in China from Tor was long gone, or stale from way back? That turns out not to be the case.

I also see some odd behavior from IPs starting with 86, some but not all starting 86.69.135. Dan (talk) 01:33, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

So where is he? YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 00:58, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, probably Tor (anonymity network), but if you meant here then he's on Thelema and related articles. He just restored one of Ekky's edits again, at Heru-ra-ha. Dan (talk) 03:58, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Keith Johnson edit

I think what you've done with this rather obscure (and slightly smarmy-sounding) chap is brilliant. As ever. On a related topic, what in your view now needs to be done to the main Australian cricket team in England in 1948 article to raise that to a higher standard? I keep thinking I'm going to get more time to be helpful, but then it disappears under RL workload again. But that's one of the ones that I could perhaps be tinkering with in the spare moments. Decrement? edit

I just noticed this, which removed Premiere (The O.C.) from the list along with a number of other FAs. It was promoted by Sandy a few days ago, but your edit summary said something about "decrement". Has there been something to cause it to re-evaluated. If so, as the primary editor and nominator, it would have been nice to be kept in the loop. Amdo edit

Hi, I see you reverted my changes to the Amdo page. I am currently trying to research this subject more and I think that the whole article needs an overhaul, hence I tried to break up the history sections to make it easier to research time periods and removed the section which was actually about the history of Qinghai. I have noted all this in the discussion pages. Are you interested in researching this topic also? --Anythingpossible (talk) 07:53, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great I'm steadily ploughing through adding pop and references for the moment. I've got us a new pin location map for Vietnam -out with the old CIA map. FAR closures edit

Just as an FYI I usually try to close FARCs only on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The reasoning for this is that the Gimmetrow bot which archives the FARs and updates the articles (removing FA star, updating talk page templates, etc) only runs on those days. Sandy also follows this schedule on FACs. Joelito (talk) 20:10, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

In [1], you have added that from past data Ravichandar84 is unrelated to other users. Could you elaborate on this? Apart from Wiki_Raja, has a check user or a sock case ever filed against the other users? ShivNarayanan (talk) 01:00, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, but in previously chacking other vandals on the various ranges, some of the established users came up, and not together with Ravichandar. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 02:52, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks a lot! It seems too stupid. I have been here for 3 years and I've contributed a fair number of articles to the project. I had earlier tagged Kallar article for lack of references. But when User:Tamilvendan contacted me in my talkpage and expressed his willingness to cooperate in cleaning the article, I removed the tag assuming good faith. I visited Talk:Kallar and expressed my opinion on the necessity of more sources and awarded a barnstar to User:ShivNarayanan for insisting on reliable sources for the article. This was way back in early March. Since then, I haven't made any edits to the article or talkpage. Yesterday, I suddenly found a message from User:ShivNarayanan saying that he did not want my barnstar. When I investigated, I found that User:Shivnarayanan had, all of a sudden, deleted the barnstar from his talkpage and had filed an RFCU against me. He has also been responsible for such ridiculous behaviour in the past. I do not know if this is some kind of publicity stunt! But I had not able to sleep the whole night. You see, the range 59.*.*.* is provided by Indian government-owned BSNL Broadband connection and more than half of India's internet population uses a BSNL connection.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 02:43, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It may not be Bake, but User:ShivNarayanan appears to be a single purpose account most of whose edits (I guess it should be about 90%) have been to caste-related articles. He has 1000-odd edits and his not6ed contributions to this project has been to start ridiculous RFCUs every now and then. He had earlier started an RFCU against User:Sureshmaran and now, me. There has also been frequent assumption of bad faith by him that I doubt if he is here to contribute anything constructive.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 11:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I wish to thank you for your gracious support during my bid for a position as Coordinator of the Military history Wikiproject in the recent March 2009 elections. I was initially apprehensive to stand for election as I was unsure on how well I would be received, but I am pleasantly surprised and delighted to have been deemed worthy to represent my peers within the project. The Military history WikiProject Newsletter : Issue XXXVII (March 2009) edit

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue XXXVII (March 2009)
From the coordinators

The big news of course was the seventh project coordinator election covering the period ending 30 September. The quality of the candidates was extremely high, with some of the project's top content builders running alongside highly experienced backroom people. Of the eighteen candidates, sixteen were finally appointed, giving us probably the most rounded coordination team so far.

Those elected were: Abraham, B.S., Bellhalla, Cam, Eurocopter, EyeSerene, Ian Rose, Jackyd101, Joe N, Lordoliver, Maralia, MBK004, Nick-D, Roger Davies (lead), Skinny87, The ed17 and TomStar81. Kirill Lokshin continues in his role as coordinator emeritus. Thanks must go to the departing coordinators – Bedford, JonCatalán and Woody – for helping make the project what it is today

The C-class referendum, held at the same time, produced a slight majority of votes for introduction, but was insufficient to demonstrate a clear consensus. So, for the time being at least, therefore, the project will continue without C-class. Otherwise, focus is likely be on the Academy and the development of courses to develop reviewing, copy-editing and article-building skills. Some review of our task forces is also probable, perhaps consolidating some of the smaller, quieter, ones. As ever, input from everyone is not only welcomed but positively encouraged.

The coordinators' gratitude goes not only to those who participated in the election and referenda but also to everyone who works quietly and conscientiously away to make participation in this project rewarding, successful and productive. Milhist is very fortunate in its membership! Thank you all,  Roger Davies talk 16:15, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
