All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.

Dear Carole, thank you for the efforts you have made to understand my work. Elements I added some more accurately. George Yatrides.

The text you have edited can satisfy the preeminent private collections. But there are also smaller Collectors whose heritage is made with my work and for this reason I will submit a few details that seem necessary and I ask you to consider.

The article with these details which are in bold :

Georges Yatridès (born 1931) is an artist of Greek heritageof Franco-American nationality.[1][2] His work is held in various North American private collections, and has been featured in retrospectives and art school events.

Eight periods characterise his paintings: "Fauvist" (1945-1948); "Abstract" (1948-1951); "Pre-graphic" (1952-1955/1956-1962); "Fundamental Graphics" 1 and 2 (1963-71/1973-78); "His own school - Apodictic" 1972-1983; "Apodictic Synthesis Period" 1949-2009": "First Synthesis" (1945-1988); "Latter Synthesis" 1945-2011). Yatrides periods spread over 65 years

Early years and personal life

edit

Georges Yatridès was born in 1931 in France. His parents were Greek. During the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, they moved to France in 1917. His father was of Greek heritage, born in the United States, and studied in France. His paternal grandfather was a Christian Orthodox Deacon who worked as a pastor in Rock Springs, Wyoming. His great-grandfather was a Christian Orthodox Archimandrite.[3][nb 1]

Over the course of his lifetime, he has lived in France and the United States.[3]

Arthur Conte, who was French Minister of Culture and Communication, was later Director General of state-run French TV and then historian of the Fifth French Republic during the presidencies of Charles de Gaulle and Georges Pompidou. He wrote Yatrides biography "Yatrides, Master of Time""[6] [7] [8] [9].

Career

edit

In 1954 he exhibited paintings produced from 1945 to 1949 in Vichy. In 1956, his work was shown in Paris at Madame Chastenet de Gery's Gallerie des Voyelles.[10][11] A representative of the International Galleries of Chicago contracted to purchase Yatridès's works which were sold to private collections in Canada and the United States.[10] Numerous works (watercolors stretched on frame) were sold through the Chicago firm and in auctions rooms.[12] AskART two reports record sales of oil paintings. From 1957 to 1965, he held solo exhibitions in the United States,[11][13][14] Canada, Latin America, Switzerland, Great Britain and Greece, where his works were acquired by private collections and a museum.[15] One solo exhibit was at the Contemporary French Masters in Chicago in 1959.[13]

Yatridès has been described by writer Vanessa Fize as a great contemporary painter, driven by his passion for light and science. Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse are believed by some to have been an influence on his art. His work had elements of graphic art in the 1960s. The following decade he studied in Grenoble at the Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA) to research light and color. As his career progressed he explored use of different media and materials.[16]

Yatridès made the large compositions that would characterize his art in the 1970s.[17] In 1981, he exhibited paintings inspired by the Bible in three crypts in the Sacré-Cœur in Paris.[18]

Events from the 1950s include: * Drawings and Watercolors of the French School 1910-1960. 1958 Chicago USA[19]

  • Palais des Congrès 1974: Nice, France: "Retrospective Yatrides drawings, 1957-1974"[20][21].
  • XIth and XIIIth Salons in Montmorency, Val d'Oise département, 1981 and 1983 in France.[11]

  • Canada-France International biennials, 1988 in Québec.[11]
  • Canada-France Biennials, 1991-1993.[11]

On 12 December 1983, Yatrides work achieved a French sales record in Paris (Adjudication 800.000 French Francs (120.000 Euros) under the hammer of the auctioneer Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr[24][25][26][27], he donated the proceeds to Poland[28][29]where he took part in allocating the benefit. The subsequent dispatch of more than 500 tons of medical supplies, toys and fruit for children suffering from muscular dystrophy, was organised by the Lyon’s club[1], the Rotary Club[2] and Jacques Dechavanne and, through the link with art, it was accepted into communist Poland, even though the merchandise came originally from the United States[30].

On 17 January 1996, Yatrides et son siècle was established to protect the public, civil and professional interests of Yatridès's works. The organization is composed of "senior officials".[31]

Comparison to Kubrick

edit

Art critics have suggested there are similarities between the monolith in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey and a recurring monolith motif in the artwork of Yatridès. Arthur Conte suggests that Yatridès' Adolescent and child canvas painted in 1963 has a slab similar to that of Kubrick.[32] Sacha Bourmeyster, a semiology specialist, states that the Yatridès slab communicates supernatural life in a manner similar to that in 2001.[33] Similarities between Yatridès' art and Kubrick's monolith have also been noted on CyberArchi, an on-line French architecture magazine.[34]

Hello Yatrides, It was my pleasure to work on your article. It's very interesting. One thing that you may want to think about is that there are links to your website that give the readers a great deal of information about you. The good news is that interested folks are going to want to read in more detail and are likely to click on those links.

You may want to check out Talk:David Harding (finance) for use of {{edit COI|a}} that you can post on Talk:Georges Yatridès to request edits, which looks like this:

You don't need to paste in the entire article, just want you want to add.

Here are some comments about what you'd like to add:

1. Eight periods characterise his paintings: "Fauvist" (1945-1948); "Abstract" (1948-1951); "Pre-graphic" (1952-1955/1956-1962); "Fundamental Graphics" 1 and 2 (1963-71/1973-78); "His own school - Apodictic" 1972-1983; "Apodictic Synthesis Period" 1949-2009": "First Synthesis" (1945-1988); "Latter Synthesis" 1945-2011). Yatrides periods spread over 65 years
There are a couple of problems, the biggest of which is that there is not a citation for this information, which would need to be 1) a published secondary source, 2) that could be verified.
2. Arthur Conte, who was French Minister of Culture and Communication, was later Director General of state-run French TV and then historian of the Fifth French Republic during the presidencies of Charles de Gaulle and Georges Pompidou. He wrote Yatrides biography "Yatrides, Master of Time""[35][36][37][38]
Two things: That information isn't needed in the body of the article, but it could be added as a note after the information about Conte. I have found two sources that I can verify - and reworded it a bit based upon the source information. See [nb 2] in the Georges Yatridès#Comparison to Kubrick section and/or the 2nd note in Georges Yatridès#Notes.   Done with modifications
3. In the "Events from the 1980s.." section: * Drawings and Watercolors of the French School 1910-1960. 1958 Chicago USA[39]
This seems to be a duplicate of Georges Yatridès#Career, 2nd paragraph, last sentence (based upon the text and the citation information): One solo exhibit was at the Contemporary French Masters in Chicago in 1959.[13]
4. On 12 December 1983, Yatrides work achieved a French sales record in Paris (Adjudication 800.000 French Francs (120.000 Euros) under the hammer of the auctioneer Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr[40][41][42][43], he donated the proceeds to Poland[44][45]where he took part in allocating the benefit. The subsequent dispatch of more than 500 tons of medical supplies, toys and fruit for children suffering from muscular dystrophy, was organised by the Lyon’s club[3], the Rotary Club[4] and Jacques Dechavanne and, through the link with art, it was accepted into communist Poland, even though the merchandise came originally from the United States[46].
The biggest problem is I cannot verify this information, except from your site, youtube and non-reliable sources. There's some WP:Peacock / non-encyclopedic language. Do you have internet links to any published sources (journal or magazine articles, etc.)? I can work with a french article, I just need to be able to see it. Then I could work on making the content more encyclopedic in nature.
5. Update the works materials.
It's against guidelines to change information taken from a source, based upon original research, and without having another published source. So, it seemed better to remove the materials than have incorrect information.  Done with modifications
If you can find reliable secondary sources that I can verify, then I can provide the updates, but I cannot change information from the current cited source.
6. Add images.
Done, put in order by year of work.--CaroleHenson (talk) 22:06, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Someone may come back and reduce the number of images in the gallery for a couple of reasons (no citations, more than needed to give a sense of the artist's work, or another reason). I just wanted to give you that "heads up" in case that happens and also to warn about attention that may come from adding more works.--CaroleHenson (talk) 22:23, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

It's not clear what you mean by I will act in any legal normality -- could you clarify? NE Ent 01:23, 13 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yatrides, we have a policy named No legal threats that forbids simultaneous editing Wikipedia and making legal threats against Wikipedia authors. The reason for this is that the project is run by volunteers. Some of them may afford lawyers, most of them do not. It is very difficult to do unpaid editorial work and be prepared to call your attorney over each edit. As you might imagine allowing simultaneous editing and legal proceeding would help corporations and rich people to bully their lies and half-trues through editorial process that is of course in nobody's interests. Because of this every entry that can be interpreted as a legal threat is usually met with a strong contempt by wiki authors. This edit looks like a legal threat, please do not do it again.
I am sure you just wanted to encourage fixing inaccuracies in your article and did not want to harm anybody. Most of the editors working on the article want the same. I am sure the inaccuracies you have mentioned will be addressed soon (although Wikipedia is run by unpaid volunteers and they sometimes work slower than everybody want). If there is a really damaging error in the article please drop me (or any administrator) a note and we would blank the corresponding place immediately per policy named biographies of living people. Thanks for your help with the article and sorry for the community been slower than expected in response to your suggestions Alex Bakharev (talk) 02:18, 13 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yatrides strong references

Attention: Alex Bakhare

Hello,

I hope that this message is completely read and that is confirmed to me.

Your comprehensive statement made on September 13, I was able now to stay the action that I had undertaken to defend my work as well as scientific pictorial. I appreciate your answer, in a situation where they were obscured and /or distorted information about my work. I ask politely, based on the quality of the references I provide, ceases unjustified manipulation.

With my 82 years of experience, I request that my biography of June 06, 2013, 2:30 p.m. before occultation can be brought back online by my assistants next week, biography completed of scanned formal irrefutable references (see below). This biography will appear on en.Wikipedia.org and fr.Wikipedia.org, with your assistance particularly to France where my Wikipedia biography was deleted by the moderator Wikipedia Carol Henson who was confronted with facts scattered by others moderators predecessors. She is the only one who has made the effort to respond clearly, however with insufficient elements of the subject.

My conciliatory spirit manifested itself in two years in the face of negative Wikipedia moderators who were not deepening. For the avoidance of procrastination, often strong sources of third punctuate my long career secondary references are now scanned text and visual images in "Authentic Yatrides." This site belongs to Gilbert Arnaud who has his own business and manages large IT companies Grenoble Rhône-Alpes largest university and industrial Centre of France, Centre of Atomic Research CEA-CENG (AEC: French Atomic Energy Commission)where I realized my own personal researches about new properties of light dissociated of non common time, all Claims Patents agreed. Gilbert Arnaud research on the size of my work serves as a reference to its customers.

What should I wear more prejudice: I am 82 years old, my time is valuable. In addition, I can not leave this life leaving behind over three hundred small Collectors whose heritage is made up of elements of my paintings, collectors disconcerted by the behavior moderators Wikipedia incredulous to the size of my career. Similarly, the preeminent private collections that have my works deserve consideration. Some of them appear in the register of the Chamber of Commerce Franco-British among them, the Honourable Lady Marriott (Maryot) Hay, Joachim Murat, Lord Glentanar, John Foster Dulles, The Honorable Mrs. Lotti Adams, Basil (Bazle) Butler British Petroleum, Tristan Jones Garrel Member British Parliament. Etc.

Yatrides biography

edit

I never practice threat. I only expressed my displeasure.

Admit that 37 months of discussions about what I experienced professionally is heavy to carry, and it is not to me a friendly behavior. I realized that the friendly tone that I used did not bring me anything. This is how my dialogue has evolved mentioning bluntly hundreds of references, including 5 dictionaries including Who's Who in International Art with 16 pages dedicated to my work, all speak highly of my work.

I do not ask as much: enough is the Dictionary of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers Alzieu Edition establishes four pages very concise on my work, the events it has determined, that is enough.

I think it is right and proper to ask you to consider the contents of this dictionary and calmly require its use. At the beginning of my relationship with Wikipedia I was 79 old, I am now over 82 years, it is fair to remember that time left to me to live is short, so clearly I finally wish to be heard and understood. This is said without threat or intimidation. Thus I request not to be blocked.

Sincerely,

--Yatrides (talk) 16:56, 4 October 2013 (UTC) (In French if my english language is unsufficient):Reply

Cordialement,

Georges Yatridès. --Yatrides (talk) 16:56, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not an unblock request; and implying the intent to take legal action, which you certainly did, is not allowed on Wikipedia. Nor is self-promotion. --jpgordon::==( o ) 17:51, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yatrides.

You have an ego the size of the solar system and the conflict of interest from that makes you an unsuitable editor with respect to your own article. You do not seem to be able to approach or discuss it in a reasonable way, but rather are always making long insistent posts on the talk page as if you are somehow entitled to dictate the content of your own article. You aren't. That's not collegial discussion, it's bullying. I for one say you should stay blocked.

Vous ne semblez pas être en mesure d'approcher ou de discuter d'une manière raisonnable, mais faites toujours de longs messages insistants sur la page de discussion comme si vous êtes en quelque sorte le droit de dicter le contenu de votre article. Likely an imposter

edit

I do not think that this editor is actually Yatrides. A genuine artist would not behave in such a shameful fashion. A genuine artist would not brag about the greatness of his work. A genuine artist would not be proud of the cost of his works. A genuine artist would allow his works to speak for themselves instead of demanding that others praise them. A genuine artist would take the trouble to have his comminuiques translated into intelligible text instead of gibberish. See [86].

Rendant compte que personne n'est convaincu, et finalement ne correspond pas au codes de Wikipedia, ma volonté est de ne plus le faire à nouveau - I was blocked because after more than three years of discussion with the moderators, I was sorry that my page is again altered. Certainly I was wrong to show a threatening forward and I regret it. Realizing that no one is convinced, and finally does not match the codes of Wikipedia, my intention is not to do it again Yatrides (talk) 16:31, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I am not comfortable with unblocking you at this time. It seems that you become extremely agitated at any change to the article about you. I don't think you understand that Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia, not a platform for you to put out the image you wish to present to the world. If a newspaper was writing an article about you, would you expect them to just sit back and let you write it, or would you expect them to do their job properly? The same applies here. I don't think you should be unblocked unless you agree to stay away fromt the article about you since you do not seem to be able to overcome the conflict of interest issues there. As that seems to be your only purpose on Wikipedia I see little hope of this account being unblocked without a clear, specific commitment to curb these problems. Thank you for answering me so quickly. If I am unblocked, I would suggest, for example, a press element not yet listed and let the moderators decide the objectivity of my proposal, without trying to convince with long arguments.

--Yatrides (talk) 13:51, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

On the basis of what you have said in your latest unblock request, I would be prepared to unblock you, if it weren't for the fact that your comment about "a press element not yet listed and let the moderators decide the objectivity of my proposal" is very unclear, and casts doubt on what you said in the unblock request. Can you clarify what you mean by that? Unfortunately, it is by no means clear to me that it doesn't mean that you intend to continue to try to impose your preferred version on the article about you, albeit by different means from those you used before. Attention: James B. Watson

I would not try to impose either a different version. Only moderators will have the decision.

Without intervening nor affecting the texts edited in Wikipedia (which I 've never done, I had only talk/develop arguments conform to publications concerning my work). From now on I would let check out what is described in various books concerning my work, what is already cited by Wikipedia, which chronologically Benezit Dictionary of Painters and sculptors (Librairie Gründ , 1976) in my 45 years – the Who'sWho In International Art (16 pages text and reproductions of my works, Lausanne Switzerland, 1987) in my 56 years – the Dictionary of painters and sculptors which traces my career (Deshairs - Wantellet, Alzieu Editions , 2008) to my 77years and other biographical works – including that of Arthur Conte President of the Assembly of the Western Europe ( 1961) are also available to the public through the official International Library of the City of Grenoble, a major university town and advanced scientific research, notably CEA Atomic Energy Commission which also I realized personal research . I talked far awkwardly, not knowing the rules of Wikipedia. Since 2012, I decided to act without the advices of the Organization that bears my name (Yatrides and his century); its Office consists of Senior Officials today benevolent. So, my sole clumsiness with Wikipedia, which I deeply regret, caused reactions that have not complied with the last years of my life that deserve regards.

To confirm my word I repeat that I would not "try to impose" either a different version or anything else on the article about me. Only moderators will have the decision.
