File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.JPG edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 21:56, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:38, 8 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Image of Mount Carmel College, Bangalore (File:Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.JPG edit

Hi Yash44444. Unfortunately Wikipedia can't use that particular image. The source website states "Copyright © 2013. Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. All Rights Reserved". There is a complicated Wikipedia content guideline on such images. Essentially we don't host copyrighted images of building, people, other things that still exist. This is because Wikipedia aims to be the "Free encyclopedia" and someone could take a photo of the building (or person) and release under a free licence (such as the cc-by-sa 3.0 one you will see at the bottom of this page). Sometimes the original creator (the college in this case) of the image can be convinced to donate an image, and other times there can be a freely licenced image available on site such as flickr, though I can't find one in this case - Peripitus (Talk) 21:21, 8 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Peripitus, Thank you for the your guidelines and in future I'll consider these points.
