July 2018

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Your recent talk page comments on User talk:Ludocreates were not added to the bottom of the page. New discussion page messages and topics should always be added to the bottom. Your message may have been moved. In the future you can use the "New section" link in the top right or edit an existing page or section and add your content at the bottom of the existing material. For more details see the talk page guidelines. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 18:44, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

I will make sure to do that next time. Thanks! XYZtSpace (talk) 01:07, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Rollback granted

I have granted the "rollbacker" permission to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, contact me and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. - TNT 💖 18:45, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Twinkle

Welcome! I see that you are reverting vandalism, and I thank you for that. I was wondering if you have ever considered using Twinkle. It's a tool that can be enabled in the "Gadgets" section of your preferences that helps with finding and inserting talk page templates, reporting users to WP:AIV, tagging pages for speedy deletion, among other things. I'm sure it would be helpful to you. Again, welcome! SemiHypercube (talk) 19:10, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

I'll look into it. XYZtSpace (talk) 01:07, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

July 2018

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at WP:AIV, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 05:53, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Oops. I forgot about that. It's now fixed. Thanks. XYZt (talk) 05:56, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Steve Weissman

Hi XYZtSpace. I reviewed what was going on over at Steve Weissman following your report to WP:AIV. I think per WP:DOB, as the DOB in question is unsourced, its best to err on the side of removal in this case. Since it looks like you have stepped away since the report, I didn't want my response at WP:AIV to get lost when the bot clears out old reports. Since your not around, I've gone ahead and removed the DOB from the article, hope you don't mind. Monty845 04:26, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

@Monty845: Got it. Thanks for clarifying the removal's reason. It appears that the original vandal is 208.59.121.67. The IP address has vandalized before and was also responsible for changing the age of Steven Weissman, though he/she later reverted it. I should remove the false warning templates on User:Islandgirl999 (my apologies btw), correct? XYZt (talk) 05:02, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
I don't know if there is really any clear guidance on that last part, but I think your solution is fine. Monty845 14:47, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

Re: Australian Country Party (2004) changes.

I note that the information I updated on the Australian Country Party (2004) page was directly drawn from the Australian Country party Website.

The party has completely changed its direction and focus to a National organisation and the current information does not reflect the Party at all Now.

Yes I am associated with the Party and happy to note conflict but need to ensure that the page correctly reflects who and what the party is now, including our new logo.

I am happy to cite the different sections of the Party website as the information is drawn from there and is the most current information.

The revert you have done has returned the page to the content that is clearly not relevant to the current Party.

Please advise how I can quickly overcome this situation as we have 2 by-election campaigns starting tomorrow with associated candidates.

I also not that I added the New England By-election and the Longman by-elections with cites which were also reverted.

Glennstapo --Glennstapo (talk) 08:11, 5 July 2018 (UTC)

@Glennstapo: Hello. You are welcome to change the logo. But please maintain a neutral point of view when writing about the Party's commitments. My suggestion is to put the commitment in quotes and attribute the claim to the party. You should also cite other, non-primary sources to confirm that the info is correct.
In addition, please disclose your Conflict of Interest (by adding the below template) in the article talk page and add a note every time you edit while having a COI.

It doesn't say that. The Wikipedia policy does want you to stop vandalising. XYZt (talk) 04:28, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
Vandalizing refers to specific malicious Ebiting, not adding new facts.GeorgeHectrond (talk) 04:34, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
You're doing exactly that: Malicious editing. Your "facts" don't have citations and yet you keep on pushing them. XYZt (talk) 04:35, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

No you do not. Stop assuming that I don't check the pages just because you didn't link them. It's insulting. XYZt (talk) 04:42, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Concerning 1Malaysia

The date that I had added was one found on a Wiki page, using a source which link is now dead. I can find no exact date, but can infer that it was on or before the sixth of June, 2009, as per [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Presently42 (talkcontribs) 08:14, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Got it. Thanks for the link. Changed the date to "summer 2009" since it's after April 3rd and before June 6th. XYZt (talk) 17:58, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Talk pages

Hello, I stumbled upon your edit here where you restored a message deleted by a user from their own talk page and went on to 'warn' them about it. It is regarded as acceptable for a user to delete messages from their own TP and is habitually interpreted by the community as meaning that they have read and understood the content. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 20:22, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

@Eagleash: I get your point. But the user was actively vandalising at the point and I interpreted the revert as the vandal trying to pretend that there was no warning. I've seen other vandals deleting warnings and continues to vandalise. XYZt (talk) 22:17, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
Yes, it's not an uncommon occurrence (and a known 'anomaly'). See WP:OWNTALK for the guidelines. Eagleash (talk) 22:41, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

50Hz 60hz

Hello XYZtSpace. Thank you for your message, I give you the reasons of following modification: Unless explicit mention of the manufacturer, the majority of devices operate in 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Contrary to popular belief, the change of frequency is not destructive.

Sources are: A lot of 60Hz appliances and 50Hz appliances tested in 18 countries without any problem (I am French and I work in Philippines since 10 years) Manufacturers: They don’t have specific production for 50Hz or 60 Hz appliances. Other references: M.KOUZNETSOV Edition de Moscou 1970. Element d’electrotechnique. 80% of my appliances in Philippines (60Hz) are imported from Europe. Most of them are sale for 50Hz only.

I confirm frequency change is not descructive Regards. Olivier Telecom engineer — Preceding unsigned comment added by Olivair77 (talkcontribs) 07:38, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

@Olivair77: Thank you for your reply. Wikipedia does not accept Original Research, meaning text based off of first-hand experience from an editor. These experiences may be false and are hard to verify on a wiki. Sources we like include articles published in reputable journals. If you have a published article supporting your claim, feel free to replace that paragraph with your text along with a citation. I have meanwhile placed a Citation needed tag on the original paragraph as there was no source for that as well. XYZt (talk) 00:23, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

File:Reddit Place final.png

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:21, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Per WP:ECHO, for a ping to work, it needs to be added at the same time as the signature & timestamp! ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 03:22, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Lvl 3/4 warnings

Please don't jump straight to a level 3 or 4 warning without first verifying if the IP edits were factual (albeit unsourced). They were clearly made in good faith. You were right to revert them though, as they didn't provide a source. Bennv3771 (talk) 06:28, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

@Bennv3771: Sorry. I was not aware of the death and was not able to find any on the first two pages. I quickly reverted it because it seems to violate BLP policies. Screenshot XYZt (talk) 06:34, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
Np. It was a good revert as they didn't cite any sources. Bennv3771 (talk) 06:34, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:SKIA logo.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:SKIA logo.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:36, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
