Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Psycho-Pass (season 1)

Hi there. I'm not really good with FL or FA but considering the formatting of Psycho-Pass (season 1) I've been wonder if it's possible to nominate this article to GA since it's only 22 episodes. Sorry, I don't have too much experience regarding GA nominations and such. From what I'm seeing, since Psycho-Pass 2 and Psycho-Pass 3 are being treated as stand-alone articles, each including an episode list section, I wonder if the Psycho-Pass and Psycho-Pass (season 1) articles should be merged or if it's ok to leave the latter as it is, since it has more episodes. Box office mojo

Your edits on Dragonball super superhero and Dragon ball super broly seem to be inconsistent The funimation site will obviously inflate their numbers , there is no established rule that the company site is accurate and If Box office mojo is outdated then the same thing could be said for the Dragonball super superhero box-office mojo, as the 86 million dollar figure was months back, it is outdated. You literally claimed that other sources shouldn't be trusted, then put an unreliable source. You either stay consistent with your narrative or stay out this matter. Anyway, no idea why you are comparing an established company like Funimation/Crunchyroll, which surely know firsthand the film's gross (given that they were directly involved in its distribution), to self-published/user-generated websites lacking editorial oversight like Kanzenshuu or Sportskeeda. @Xexerss. It about reliability. They were directly involved, that doesn't mean that they are the most reliable source. Box office mojo should be used on both pages, so why are you removing a valid source, especially when company sites mostly inflate their own numbers. If an unreliable site like crunchyroll can be used, then i don't see any problem in using other sources for the Dragon Ball Super Superhero. As i have mentioned before. Is there any previous discussion questioning their reputation? I still don't get your comparison of an established company with editorial oversight to random self-published and user-generated websites where anyone can submit whatever they want and will still be published. I could ask you the same; why are you removing a valid source without giving a valid reason? What do you have to back up the "inflating their own numbers" thing? I suggest you to discuss the issue with citing Funimation at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga/Online reliable sources to introduce your reasons why you consider them unreliable, so we can reach a consensus to determine whether they are reliable or not. I'm not saying that they are the most reliable source, but just like Box Office Mojo, their figure is just an estimated one, and given that The Numbers (considered reliable as well by Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Resources) reported a similar figure ([1]) I don't find far fetched what Funimation reported or that the figure may be higher than what BOM reported. I insist that you should discuss their reliability at the article's talk page, WP:A&M/ORS or WP:RSN, because this is the first time I see someone disputing their credibility. Deletion sorting

Hello, I have noticed on some recent AfDs, such as List of parodies in Gintama and Cross Over, you added a note that the discussion was added to the delsort pages for Japan and Anime/Manga, but I found that the pages had not actually been added to the delsort page. @Bensci54: Hi. To be honest, that's just a mistake from my part. When I nominate articles for deletion, I usually just manually copy and paste the format from previous article's deletion discussion pages that I've created, adjusting the Information, and just adding it to the "Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log" page of the current day. Why did you undo my minor edit to Shaman King?

Romanization of Japanese titles

Hi, you have reverted my edits on My Clueless First Friend per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Japan-related articles#Japanese words spelled with the full stop. First, I'd like to point out that '。', or the kuten, is not used in the same manner as the English period/full stop, detailed on the article for Japanese punctuation, and is often used for style without grammatical meaning. Specifically in the case of anime and manga, and in pop culture, it is often used as a distinguishing character, e.g. the first season of Oreimo is titled "Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai" while season two is titled "Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai." (bolding for emphasis; note the period at the end). Other punctuation marks are used this way as well: K-On! and K-On!! (extra exclamation point), Hayate no Gotoku! and Hayate no Gotoku!! (extra exclamation point), Working!! and Working'!! (extra apostrophe), and so on.

Here are some more pages that may be of interest. Since you claim to care about consistency and adhering to Wikipedia's style guide, these should all adhere to the same standards as My Clueless First Friend:

• Anohana (period is present)
• Your Name (period is not present – should be amended)
• Gonna be the Twin-Tail!! (period is present)
• Morning Musume (period is present, three instances)

Template:Nihongo states that the field is to provide a "transliteration of the Japanese word". The Hepburn transliteration/romanization, of "娘。", to give an example, is not "Musume" – it is "Musume.". Hepburn romanization rules do not say to leave off punctuation or other orthographic marks, unless you would like to link me to a source saying this. But, in this context, the English transliteration of the symbol "。" is indeed "." – not emptiness. We do not remove this mark when romanizing Japanese to English and, in fact, in various cases (as described above) it is of pivotal importance it is not removed.

Your edit message also asks "rōmaji is mostly for spelling, how are we supposed to spell a punctuation mark" which is frankly nonsensical. You spell a punctuation mark… with the punctuation mark. And you don't remove it. But, more importantly, "spelling" is a concept and word mentioned only by you. Again, the template doesn't say it should be used to "spell out the Japanese text in English" (and for some reason ignore orthography) – it is to romanize it verbatim. Which is what I am doing, and which is what the majority of pages do across Wikipedia. I'm simply trying to ensure consistency across all the above pages and many more. –Fpmfpm (talk) 02:29, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

@Fpmfpm: I insist, WP:OTHERCONTENT is not an argument. In fact, the English period is not present in the Your Name article precisely because there were previous discussions about the pointlessness of including the period in the title; there are three discussions at least that you can check on its talk page. The other three articles that you mentioned haven't had this discussion yet; there is no consesus about whether it is correct to include the period or not, but considering the Your Name's talk page discussions and the MOS about Japanese words spelled with the full stop, I am more inclined to think that the titles are wrong and the period should be removed as well. If a full stop is necessary to point out the difference between two titles, like you mentioned in Oreimo, I suppose that it is reasonable to point out the difference somehow in the article, but the MOS about Japanese words spelled with the full stop explicitly states that "。" should not be spelled with ".", and the fact that various articles are still doing it doesn't mean that they're correct. Yes, I care about consistency, but if I know that there are guidelines explicitly stating that including X is incorrect and several articles are still including X because no one has taken the time to fix it, I'm not gonna automatically think that they're fine because they're the majority; sadly, good articles adhering to the guidelines in Wikipedia have never been majority. In any case, I suggest you to bring the issue to WT:MOS-ANIME, so we can reach a consensus there with other editors. Xexerss (talk) 09:34, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

If they are making mistakes, they should be informed and also invited to participate in any deletion discussion. Notifications are easily done if you use the editing tool Twinkle to tag pages for deletion. Once you set up your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator", then Twinkle will post these notices on your behalf. @Siebrenvde: I checked the dates on Denpa's site and the dates for the first three volumes appear as following respectively: "2019-12-30", "2021-09-25", "2022-04-05". @Hunterongames: "eponymous: of, relating to, or being the person or thing for whom or which something is named : of, relating to, or being an eponym"[2] The term doesn't exclusively imply that to be "eponymous" something has to be named after one thing that precedes it (which seems to be the reason why you think that the term was incorrectly applied), but they could be simply related (franchise and film). To me it is not clear that the first reference is talking about the franchise as opposed to the film, making it a circular reference: the name of the film Star Wars comes from the film Star Wars. I would still prefer to get rid of the word eponymous entirely. The section uses it 3 times, so it comes off as repetitious.

I take your point about eponymous being used both for the original person or thing, and the thing that is named after it. But the way the sentence is worded now makes it seem circular.

This might seem too pedantic, but why are we referring to the original name of the movie? Nowadays, it is called Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. If we use the current title, it is not eponymously named. For instance, IMBD has it listed under the current title, with the original title in parentheses below. People who have changed their names are listed on wikipedia using the name they currently use or are well-known by - I'm thinking of actors/actresses, authors (Robert Jordan, for example, is not listed under his birth name of James Oliver Rigney Jr), etc. Hunterongames (talk) 09:13, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

@Hunterongames: I don't think that there is a limit regarding of how many times we can use a specific word in a particular section and the use is justified anyway. Well, that's why we have specific articles for the franchise and the first film, and both are accordingly linked in the sentence, but nevermind, I reworded it. Regarding the use of the original title instead of the current one, I think that it is simpler to address it by the current name of the article, and as for the reason why the article is called like that, I suppose that has something to do with WP:COMMONNAME; in the talk page of the film's article must be plenty of discussions where the consensus was that it should be called "Star Wars (film)" instead of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope". All I can tell you is that the article has various edits done by User:Scabab, which incurred in original research in most of their edits and is currently blocked. WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). It's not like I necessarily thought that the dates were wrong, but I think that dates are just like any other piece of information that needs to be verified from some kind of source, and sadly, for older series, these are very hard to find. I've seen some editors adding dates listed on MyAnimeList in other articles, but not only is it an unreliable source, but I've checked more than once that they have indicated incorrect dates. I've been trying to clean up the article Planetes with all the sources that interviewed Yukimura and reviews archived but the production still feels kinda limited as Yukimura is often asked more about Vinland Saga. Request regarding Kimetsu no Yaiba

Hello Xexerss! Just a heads up. I removed all instances where the series title as simply "demon slayer" was referenced in quotes as you were 100% correct in those instances. However I think it's important that we use the full title when referring to it as a "franchise." I have translated Manga before and Kimetsu no Yaiba does not translate to Demon Slayer (It means the blade that destroys demons more or less). It is part of and an extension of the main title and is trademarked so I feel it is warranted that we refer to it as the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" franchise. Kimetsu no Yaiba appears on the manga covers, the streaming title on Netflix, the Blu Rays, the IMDB page, the Google Reviews page etc.

As you reverted my edits over the missing sources, the Licensing Global website is a prime example to keep a few sources at bay. See one here, here and here. Psychopass shonen or srinen

Yes, the fact that it is published in a shōnen magazine literally means that it is a shōnen series, that's not under discussion, no matter what kind of sources you want to provide to support that stance. The content of the series has nothing to do with demographic categories. All kind of info is available searching on Google, reliable or not, so I don't know what you want to prove with that. Some seinen mamga were in shonrn magazines such as gangsta. Just brcause its shonen magazine doesmt meean all manahs are shonen. Irrelevant,if sources orovr it is seinen than it is seinen. This doesn't work like that. In the first place, you should find out how demographic categories work. This doesn't require sources and exhaustive analysis, demographic categories are simply dictated by the magazines where the series are published. It doesn't matter how grim and violent a series may be, if it is published in a shōnen magazine, is a shōnen manga. The fact that you may consider that a series deals with mature themes and is not suited for boys, is your personal interpretation and completely irrelevant for the purposes of this site. Please be civil about when interacting with other users. The shonen and seinen demographies are only used for manga versions of Psycho-Pass. For example, the prequel Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami was published in a seinen magazine and its first chapters are quieter than the first manga Inspector Akane Tsunemori that was published in a shonen manga magazine. Animes have different ratings in the same way as some novels too. Believe or not Devilman was also published in a shonen manga magazine and it was one of the most violent series ever written.Tintor2 (talk) 19:14, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

How ironic, you say that "this is not about your evaluation and perception" and yet you're still claiming that a series should not be considered a shōnen manga, because YOU consider that it deals with themes that YOU consider that are not suited for boys. If the publisher decided to publish the work in a shōnen magazine in the first place, they had their reasons to do so, and considered that it was appropriate to publish it there. You can question yourself whether that was the right decision or not, but that doesn't change the fact that it was published in a shōnen magazine and therefore it's a shōnen manga. The people working at the publishing company that decided to publish the manga in a shōnen magazine considered that the content of the series was appropriate to be published there, and that's the fact. I wouldn't recommend a 12-year-old boy to read Chainsaw Man or Attack on Titan, I would recommend him to read Mushishi instead, for example, but that doesn't change the fact that the former series were published in shōnen magazines and the latter in a seinen magazine. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? Demographic categories are not something up for interpretation and discussion. If you PERSONALLY think that a series is not ok for boys is another thing. We, editors, are not the ones who decide, based on the series content, whether they belong to shōnen or seinen demographics, again, for the last time, they only depend on the own magazine's target audience, and any other interpretation, based on the potential objectionable content of the series, is against WP:NPOV. In Japan, One-Punch Man is published in Tonari no Young Jump, the online version of Weekly Young Jump, a seinen magazine. In North America, however, the manga was previously published in Weekly Shonen Jump (which is not the same Japanese Weekly Shōnen Jump). The way the lead was worded is not the standard (just check other GA anime/manga pages to see what I mean; no other article starts with something like "[series title] is a [manga/anime] series by [name of the author] that has been adapted into [list of the type of adaptations]").
