Question regarding creating a new page.s edit

Hello Xevus11,

You had marked a page i created for deletion earlier today and had asked me to reach out to you if i had questions. This comment is in accordance to that.

I attended an art exhibition at Roosevelt Public Library, New York. Libin Babu, whom i created the page on, was their featured artist for the month of November. His art exhibition was featured at the library throughout the month, in relation to Black history and Heritage. His technique was extremely unique. He had developed a new method of creating portraits using individual particles, taking inspiration from the neo-impressionism era technique Pointillism.

The audience (including myself) and the library administration themselves were stunned by this innovation, infact i believe that the library itself is buying a number of exhibits from the painter. They are also collaborating with the artist along with organisations like the Mandela foundation, to create a project aiming towards the black history month.

I felt like i needed to give you some context, that's why. I just wished to create a page for this artist and the new technique itself, completely elaborating the details, which i have researched on already. I had accidentally published a work in progress article on Mr.Libin, and i fully understand why you could have thought that it was an amateur article. I had barely began. As for references, you can see that the artist i made the page on is featured in the homepage of Roosevelt Library's website ([1]) as the artist for the month, right now as we speak.

I have contested the deletion as i was instructed in the message. So my question is, may i go ahead and complete the page? Is there anything i should keep in mind while doing so, in a procedural sense? Looking forward to your inputs. Rexbison1304 (talk) 01:07, 2 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Rexbison1304: There is nothing you need to do, I do not delete pages, only the admins can do that. That being said, in the future I urge you to use the sandbox for pages you are working on, and then moving them to the article space. This keeps clutter out of the new page feed, and helps prevent situations like this. If you want more information on when an article is ready for the main space, check out Wikipedia:Notability.Xevus11 (talk) 01:25, 2 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rexbison1304: I just noticed the article in question was deleted. If you want to continue working on it, check out Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. Xevus11 (talk) 01:27, 2 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bekir Kaya speedy deletion... edit

Dear Xevus11,

I am curious how you have the feeling that it is a copyright infringement. Yes, a lot of the info is from the HDP info, but as you could see I put in other sources as well, which confirm the info from the HDP web site. actually in the other websites there is quite some more info about his life than in the HDP Website. There he had only one child, later he got a second, which is then written in the Ahval article. Also all the accusationdetails come from the Ahval article... I formulated the phrases differently than in the HDP webpage. And as you might see in my Page I am more in the german wiki, and there whole articles are included in Wikiarticles (not from me, but from at least one other) and all there was needed is a citation. He is an important politician from a major city. From my point of view you can enhance the article, but not delete it. Cheers, --Lean Anael (talk) 23:53, 9 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Lean Anael: Unforunitly, the speedy deletion is the only tool given to NPP to deal with copyright violations-I have no "fix this section" tool. The paricular problem here is not the content, but that about 44% of the article has the exact same wording as its source. If you would like to keep this article, reword those sessions, contest the deletion, and ask an admin to delete the old revisions with the Wikipedia:Revision deletion tag. You could write to me or others who created the page on the talk page.... And I have rephrased the very most of the phrases. I found 1 phrase that was the same. The one about the representation of Van in a sort of a "world city council". I rephrased this phrase as well now. I have checked other new articles Several of these articles contain simply one phrase. That now this article about Bekir Kaya should be deleted, who really is an important influential exceptional politician who is in prison and after having been accused of terrorism for having built a bridge... You can ask for a rephrase at the talk page, but a deletion (or a speedy deletion) is from my point of view a bit an overreaction. Cheers,--Lean Anael (talk) 01:21, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Xevus11, I don't know enough about the tools you have as a new page patroller, but there is always the {{copyvio}} template that can be inserted manually to surround a specific section of text with copyright violations. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:32, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for letting me know, ill keep it in the backpocket.Xevus11 (talk) 22:38, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018 edit

Hello Xevus11/Archives/2018,

Reviewer of the Year

This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.

Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.

See also the list of top 100 reviewers.

Less good news, and an appeal for some help

The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.

Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019

At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.

Training video

Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.
