Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at WP:TH, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Sincerely, Masum Reza 18:29, 7 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Drainage basins of Canada moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Drainage basins of Canada, does not have any sources and citations as written. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.   Hello XTMontana, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 16:39, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:XTMontana/sandbox/Canada

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:XTMontana/sandbox/Canada requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.britannica.com/place/Canada. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cabayi (talk) 17:04, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

edit

Your addition to Draft:XTMontana/sandbox/Canada has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Request reason:

Hello. The reason I am asking is to be unblocked is because my little brother was on my computer all day today and started causing trouble. I have read the things he posted and I agree that he was vandalizing Wikipedia, but he was doing it under MY account which I forgot to log out. I am deeply sorry for the things he posted on their and I will take responsibitily for them, I solemly swear never again to cause this to happen. I am deeply sorry to those who he said hated him and slandered. Please forgive him. I have severly punished him and it WILL NOT happen again. XTMontana (talk) 18:53, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As per WP:COMPROMISED, I'm afraid that's the end of the line for this account then. Yamla (talk) 18:57, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
It was my BROTHER, who lives in the same house as me, It wasnt compromised!?!

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This will not happen again, I swear by it. I was trying to test Wikipedia out to see if it really is as easy to edit and mess things up as people say it is, that is why many people distrust wikipedia, will not happen again. XTMontana (talk) 19:01, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

We cannot be sure this account is controlled by it's original owner - as Yamla has said above, we cannot unblock an account which is potentially compromised. stwalkerster (talk) 19:16, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

what can I do to prove it to you??

Please note, saying "It was my BROTHER, who lives in the same house as me, It wasnt compromised!?!" isn't helpful. You claim your brother had access to your account. That means it was compromised. Please make sure you do a better job of protecting your account in the future; this is important. --Yamla (talk) 19:23, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

But Yamla, I let him on my account to look stuff up. I smacked his butt when he did it. He is in his room now. IT ISNT COMPRIMISED! --XTMontana (talk) 19:26, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Now that more than one person has accessed a single account it is considered Compromised 109.152.214.161 (talk) 19:36, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

I concur. WP:COMPROMISED is clear on this. You have stated someone else accessed your account. Therefore, it's compromised. You shouldn't have given your brother access to your account and you are responsible for any actions of this account. End of story. I very, very, very strongly urge you to read WP:COMPROMISED; your arguments here are problematic and indicate either you haven't read WP:COMPROMISED or don't understand and aren't willing to listen. --Yamla (talk) 19:40, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
