Randy Savage name edit
editHi! I'm the person who had initially changed Randall to Randy in the header of the Randy Savage article. I noticed that you were the one who reverted it back to Randall. You stated that public records give his name as Randall. Do you have an example of these public records? I mentioned on the article's talk page that I believe Randall to be a long-standing vandalism that was incorporated into popular usage. I even sent an email to his brother at one point, and he (not very helpfully) stated that his real name is Randy. I just now looked in the Pinellas County public records, and all I see is legal documents giving his name as Randy Mario Poffo. None of the results mention the name Randall anywhere. --24.0.40.252 (talk) 21:22, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply (and I suppose, for the revert). It's sad, but I really get the feeling that somebody just changed his name to Randall a good seven something years ago as some kind of prank, and since it seemed legit plenty of wrestling bio sites and whatnot decided to pick up on it. Even numerous sites reporting on his death, and tons of user-contributed sites like Wikipedia and IMDB and whatnot. Looking carefully into it, I couldn't find any information at all (be it public records, old yearbook photos or information, etc) that suggested his name might really be Randall. It seems Randy all the way back, as best I can tell. He's not called Randall, that I can tell, anywhere that I'd trust to have done thorough fact checking. The reply I got from Lanny via email was "RANDY MARIO POFFO is his real name. Thanks for asking!". Helpful, but not like... counter 160,000 Google results helpful. I don't think there's too much more that you or I can do about it from now on other than wonder. I doubt we're gonna see a tell-all book published about him that says "oh, and his name was definitely not Randall." --24.0.40.252 (talk) 03:25, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
